Emory Summer 2014 ABSN/MSN

Published

Hello,

The application for the Emory School of Nursing is now available. I have started my application and want to connect with anyone else who is applying to Emory.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone could answer. Under the to do list. Does anybody else's OPUS say that the GRE score is initiated?

Hi Roxanamsb - It seems that I am one of the few who actually received an admissions decision yesterday, but I also saw that an item (a prerequisite) was just added to my To Do list and marked as "initiated." I have no idea what this could mean as I definitely completed this course (with an A), and it was included on the same transcript as other (accepted) prereqs. So what I mean to say is, I feel for you regarding the confusing info related to your test scores. I think we just need to be confident that these types of miscommunications will be worked out as the adcomm completes their reviews. In the meantime, I have emailed Emory Student Affairs about my prereq concerns and am hoping to hear something back by the end of the week.

When I called the admissions office, I was told that OPUS would update as the decisions were finalized. So, if they accepted you today, your OPUS should update.

Yeah thats what they told me, too. They also said the committee doesnt meet on a schedule- just whenever they have time.

Thank you Rhapsoidie and HCE2014, you guys have been beyond helpful. At this point I think its all just comical, I'm so glad we have this forum so that I haven't lost my mind. Too bad the Emory nursing admission staff can't refer people to this forum, it sure would save them tons of time of having to answer the same question over and over again, which might result in faster admission decisions:)

I doubt the admissions office staff are actually making the final decisions, so take comfort in knowing you aren't keeping them from getting down to business! ;) Usually, I think faculty (with maybe a couple of student reps) make admissions decisions, so they have to meet around class and other committee schedules.

Hey guys, my opus updated today and I did not get in, but that's okay, just means there is a different plan for me that has not yet revealed itself. Congratulations to all that got in, and many blessings to this entire forum on all your endeavors :)

Good luck Sonata32! Would anyone that got in be willing to share their stats with those of us still waiting?

Ames78: I found out that initiated means that it wasn't received. You might want to contact someone. I had to call Emory admissions and ask them to send proof to the nursing school that the scores were indeed sent on time. For those who have been accepted. Did you submit your application early? I'm wondering if their going in order of received.

Sonata32: What other programs did you apply to? What field are you coming out of? I received my first bachelor's degree in International Studies. But, now I am working at an insurance company in NICU case management.

Sonata32 - I'm so sorry to hear about your admissions outcome, but you have such a great attitude that I am positive you will have a wonderful future in nursing ahead of you!

Roxanamsb - The SON got back to me about the missing prereq, and I am working with them to clear it (providing course descriptions, etc.). So far, I have been impressed by professionalism and responsiveness of the admissions staff. Also, I did not submit my application early; in fact, I think I submitted on December 1st!

Oh, that's a bummer, Sonata32. You have a great perspective, though, and I'm sure you'll land somewhere that is the perfect fit for you. Best of luck!

I submitted December 1 as well. I do have a previous graduate degree, so that may have made a difference?

hi all! I live in Seattle and found out this morning that I was accepted into the ABSN/MSN program for the FNP track. Really excited! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you all!
