Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2014
Hey Guys! First of all, Meep, you are the bomb! Thank you so much for all of that information! I am still so stoked about my acceptance that it is sometimes very hard for me to focus at work :) I also really enjoyed the social, and absolutely love the faculty. (That strawberry shortcake stuff was the bomb too). It has been a very long haul for me with lots of life challenges along the way and I am just thrilled that I get to share this experience with you guys this year! Do you know how many people are in our nursing class starting this year? I have no idea about how many people apply versus how many are accepted. I'm also in love with the campus. I am such a nature freak and so the location is perfect for me. I am a horrible driver in the city, so thank God I don't have to drive downtown to go to school and freak myself and everyone else out on the road. I'm just so excited, but I'm pretty sure you guys caught that already, ha! I so look forward to meeting all of you :)

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2014
Hi Guys! Nice to meet you all! I just received my acceptance letter this evening to start GBCON in the fall and I am beyond stoked! I will be there Friday too, and I'm so excited to meet everyone. I agree with Meeep above in that GBCON is soooo amazing and my favorite! I visited 4 campuses in my area and while some of them were fancy..... the authenticity, kindness, and professionalism at GBCON is what blew me away. I am just so thrilled and grateful, and so happy that we get this amazing opportunity!

Emory Summer 2014 ABSN/MSN
Hey guys, my opus updated today and I did not get in, but that's okay, just means there is a different plan for me that has not yet revealed itself. Congratulations to all that got in, and many blessings to this entire forum on all your endeavors :)

Thank you Rhapsoidie and HCE2014, you guys have been beyond helpful. At this point I think its all just comical, I'm so glad we have this forum so that I haven't lost my mind. Too bad the Emory nursing admission staff can't refer people to this forum, it sure would save them tons of time of having to answer the same question over and over again, which might result in faster admission decisions:)

Thank you all for the information as I received the same email stating that there was a surplus of applicants this year so they are running behind by 1 to 2 weeks. My question is ----- is Opus going to be updating with these admission decisions throughout the next few weeks, or are all of the remaining decisions going to be finalized and released by next Friday?

Oh, well that makes sense. So did that someone receive an acceptance letter stating that he or she got in on the condition that they complete their pre-requisites? I still have 2 pre-req's on mine that I am currently retaking. Then again, I would think that Opus would show that in the decision section. I'm so confused:down:.

HCE2014 - I'm in the same boat. I emailed the school to see what it means when we log in and can still only see "Your admission decision is not available at this time", and I received an auto-reply immediately back from the school stating that due to the high number of call and email volume, please allow 1 to 2 days for a reply. I think all 200 of us are starting to crack, lol.

Hey guys! Thank you gabookworm for calling! I think we all would have attacked the mailmen (and women) if opus wasn't updated and we didn't get a letter today, lol. I want to offer my two cents in that whether or not we get into this program does not make or break our futures or nursing careers. If we don't get in, that just means there is a different plan that has not yet revealed itself. If we do get in, then great! I think with great programs like this we tend to think that this is the end all be all, but its not. Its just a wonderful opportunity, not the decision that makes or breaks our lives. I am so glad that rapsoide started this thread, but it has helped me keep my sanity with you guys, and not attack the mailman! Lol ( or mail woman of course).

Lol gabookworm you are so funny! I can't wait that long either but I suppose we might have too if they don't update opus. It looks as though they are doing things a little different this year as far as notifying folks so it's hard to tell. I suspect if they don't update opus that there will be many of our crazy tails calling or emailing after the 15th, lol. I will just be glad to have an answer either way! .

Hey guys! We are almost there :) You know, I was thinking that maybe what they mean by the 15th is that the actual letter will be generated on the 15th, but that it might take a few days to get to us. Looking at last years posts I saw that many people received their answers through opus after 5pm on the 15th, and then letters followed by a few days. Also, I feel like this is a stupid question but what button can I press to follow these posts so that I know when one of you have posted? Right now I am just checking in a few times a day, and when I pressed the "follow" button on my phone it just redirected me to some weird site . Also, if any of you find out that you got in tomorrow, please share it. Even if I don't get in I am very happy for any of you and I want to share that happiness in spirit with you .

HCE2014 - Yes, my pre-reqs were added onto Opus and I could see them before I got the letter, so I think this means they are really moving to get all of the processes done before Wednesday. I'm sorry about your stats class not being applied, and I agree with gabookworm that it was nice of them to email you and let you know. I emailed them a few weeks ago because my opus account states that I have 4 pre-reqs to complete when I really have 2, and she stated that due to the surplus of transcripts they received, they would be updating the system over the next few weeks. At first I had a mild heart attack because I had just retaken those classes and I thought that meant that none of them applied, ha. It sounds as though they had many more people apply this year than normal (I know not exactly comforting information) so I think they are just trying to get it all done before the 15th. But then again, that is just my guess. All I know is that the office stated that anyone who applied before December 1st, will know by the 15th. They have been doing this for years now and they are the experts so I'm just trying to trust the process. I'm sure that if decisions aren't out by the 15th, they know that most of our excited, nervous, and obsessive selves (all 200 of us that applied) will be calling or emailing wanting to know, ha. Hopefully they will update opus too, but I just don't know :)

HCE2014, You received an email notification about your outstanding pre-req? I received snail mail with that info. Do you happen to live out of state? And yes gabookworm, when I inquired about how decision notifications would go out she said that it was all through direct mail. I was asking about phone calls bc there's always a way that I could have misunderstood or could have missed something, so I just wanted to make sure :)

Are they doing phone calls again this year? As far as where everyone lives gabookworm, I live 20 minutes just outside of Decatur so I might get that letter pretty quick. Whenever they mail anything I seem to get it 24-48 hours within the processing date. That prereq letter I received within 24 hours. If you want, I will let you guys know as soon as I receive an admission decision by mail. I'm so nervous :/

Nope HCE2014, you didn't miss a thing :) I included the TEAS part of information because it looks as though in the past (2009+) it was required, but I know it was not required this year, just the GRE. You are good. Also, did you know that Wednesday the 15th is also a full moon? I'm not 100% into astrology, but I just thought that timing was kind of cool. Hopefully we don't all go nuts before the 15th, lol.

Congrats on getting an interview Gabookworm! That's awesome! As far as getting an idea about the average overall gpa and stats for Emory's absn/msn program, I have scoured almost every allnurses.com post referencing this program since 2009, and it looks as though they accept a vast array of gpa and stats. I've read about someone having a 2.80 average and average TEAS or GRE and getting in, and I've read about someone with a 3.9 gpa and 310 GRE stats getting in. I think they really do look at applicants holistically, and they take everything into account. On one of the posts from 2012 or 2013, I saw that 60% admission is how well the essay is written, and 40% is the quantitative aspect. That comment was written from a nurse that was already admitted into the program and in her second year (BSN 2nd degree segue). For example, if someone has a GPA and GRE score that are both in the higher percentiles, then that is obviously fantastic and will help tremendously. However, if this same person has little life and volunteer experience, and/or has average references (references that aren't that supportive), then I think that is taken into consideration. There is also the opposite where someone might have a lower or average gpa and average gre scores, but this individual has significant life experience that include volunteer and leadership services along with supportive references, so that has to be taken into consideration. There is also the candidate with a mix of the two, (but I think that is more rare because that involves 80 hours a week between school and working). I really think the whole process is very subjective to each individual, which is just another reason why I love this school and it remains my number one choice. I read all those posts from 2009 to the present thinking that I could find some inkling of an average gpa and stats to weigh my chances against, but the differences among the qualitative and quantitative stats were just too vast. However, this is just my experience, so if you guys read through them and reach a different conclusion, please share it :)
