Emory DABSN 2nd Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi peeps,

I am currently in the process of finishing up my DABSN application for Emory Univ. But I have received an email for an interview here soon. I am wondering if there are other people out there considering this program as well. If so, you are more than welcomed to share. Also if you are applying for the Spring semester of April 2019 I would love if we could chat since there is a possibility we may be in the same program together. Anyway, send me some positive feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @cjpowers

I got accepted last summer for the April cohort and have been looking for people who plan to enter this cohort. I have some questions as well on how the first cohort is going and such!

Hi there, I’m also considering the D-ABSN program and am looking for feedback! I posted this on my own topic but am not getting any responses so I hope you don’t mind if I post it here! Here’s what I said:

Hey everyone, so I just stumbled upon the new(ish) Emory distance ABSN program! I was so excited to finally have found a program like this since I live in a rural area and there aren’t many local options. Plus, relocation wasn’t an option. I’ve still got a bunch of hoops to jump through but I guess I started to hesitate when I saw the $70k tuition!! Now, that may not be a lot to some of you but where we live that is a HUGE investment. I guess I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place in that my family could never afford for me to be in school for a regular 4 year program and even an accelerated program that is an hour and a half away is over 18 months. So although this would be the most expensive option it also is the quickest and would work well with my current situation. So please, anyone, tell me why YOU want to go to Emory versus other options??

And if there’s anyone out there that has completed the prerequisite courses I’d love suggestions on where to take them online.

For anyone that’s in the program now how is it going? What’s your daily schedule like?

And lastly, there is an EMTcertification class being offered near me soon. Do you think this would be a good thing to do? I’d still have to get my CNA certification as well.

Sorry for the long post but thanks for reading this far!”

Hopefully someone responds?

I am applying for Jan 2020 and wondering if anyone else is applying or have already been accepted. If already accepted could you provide your stats, application process and did you complete TEAS/GRE? Did you have CNA license prior to applying?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I applied and was accepted for April 2019 cohort. I had a 3.8 GPA overall and 3.7 science gpa pre reqs. I didn't do that well on Teas but still got in. You don't have to have CNA before applying you just need it before you begin the program. Hope that helps and good luck: ?

@wendolyns thanks for responding :). Pretty high GPAs. That's awesome. Did you have work experience in medical field? Are able to chat via email? If so please lets connect, [email protected]. I am interested in learning about your experience so far. I know you have a busy schedule so please whenever your available. I appreciate any feedback

Hi yes, I had no work experience in the medical field. I just had the grades and I worked in accounting while finishing up pre reqs. I put my resume in the application, I think they asked for it. But I didn't end up going to the Emory because of the high cost and lack of financial aid for someone who already has a bachelor's degree. I am now pursuing PA which is much better for me.

@wendolyns ahhh I see. Many times I have gone back and forth if I wanted NP or PA. So good for you. Thanks for the insight. Was it a long wait to get admission decision? From time you submitted and until you got accepted? And did you get a call or just an email with acceptance?

Once I submitted everything in I got an email that said they wanted to do an interview. I interviewed by skype. They were so nice and made me feel comfortable. The interview was in late June. I got my acceptance lemail on August 6. There was no call for the acceptance. So it was pretty fast. All exciting all the hardwork really pays off. Goodluck to you I wish you the best ! You can email me at [email protected] if you have any more ques

Hi! Im applying! Just waiting for my TEAS score (took it today). I have an overall gpa of 3.46, prereq gpa of 3.85, CNA license. What about you? Have you taken the TEAS?

@NCnurse Hey! I don't have to take the teas. I have graduate degree and opted to waive it. CNA license in progress. Truly don't know my overall gpa but science is 3.64.

Have you submitted application? Have you spoken to anyone in the current or past class? I think there has been two cohorts. Hoping to hear something soon.

ugh thats so nice- it was hard not going to lie but I also dont have AP2 or microbio. I submitted an application! I have 3 red x's on there which are my 2 prereqs Im taking this fall and the standardized test score. I thought there were 3 cohorts.
