Has anyone else applied for Emory’s Distance- Accelerated BSN for Spring 2021?

I submitted my application and materials prior to the priority deadline. Waiting to hear back on Nov. 13th. Fingers crossed!

Hi! I just found out about this program this weekend and it sounds ideal for me! I had applied to other ABSN-type programs but unfortunately I was rejected from all of them ? I want to try to apply to this program for Fall 2021--but is it too late? I see that the application is open but I am way past the January 15 deadline. Would they even consider my application, or should I look elsewhere? I have a personal statement I would like to submit, and I just have Chemistry to complete. Would they look at my application if I am pending the transcript for Chemistry? Also--if anyone admitted has any tips to make my application stronger, I would greatly appreciate it! My science GPA is around a 3.8, while my undergrad GPA is a 3.2. Resume has a mix of medical and teaching experiences but I feel like I am too young to apply since I just received my bachelor's in January 2021 so I don't have extensive years of experience. Thanks!

Hi! Definitely apply if the application is still open. Regarding the outstanding prerequisites, that's not an issue. You will just need to complete the course and have the transcript ready by the time the fall semester starts.

Admissions take a holistic approach to the review of your application so I wouldn't be concerned about your age. GPA minimum is 3.0 so you meet that. I recall at some of the information sessions that the avg admitted GPA is about 3.5.

My only suggestion would be to ensure that your personal statement is written with heart and that you find things to talk about that really show why you want to be a nurse. And of course ensure grammar is impeccable. Read your statement like 10 times and ask someone to review it.

What state are you in? I don't have super current knowledge on the program  but acceptance into the program relies partially on where you live. I would definitely reach out to [email protected] and let them know where you live. Inquire if they would be able to have clinicals near your city.

Good luck. I got accepted into Emory's MN program but declined because of an offer from another school. My husband didn't really want to move to Georgia apparently.

Thanks so much! This is extremely helpful!

It looks like most of you got into the Spring and now Summer cohorts. Has anyone heard back that applied for Fall 2021? I applied in November, but still no word so far ?!

I applied for the Fall 2021 cohort in January, but still no word on a decision either.

Applied late for the Summer 2021 cohort.. I see that decisions are released today for the program, but it also seems like they may follow a non-traditional review process. Hope to hear back soon.

Oops... sorry for the double post! I called this morning to gauge the amount of time it may take to receive a decision since I applied later than the January 15th deadline. I was told all decisions were being released today at 5 PM via email and the admissions portal. I applied for the Summer 2021 cohort, so I'm not sure if it is the same for the Fall cohort, but I imagine so! Anyone who hears back please keep me updated.

I haven’t heard anything. Did anyone get an update?

Still nothing for me. Still only a few check marks and bunch of red x's too. No change in few weeks.

Hi everyone -- I hope you're all well. I'm reaching out to see if there are any current or past students on this thread? I'm interested in learning more about this program and student's feelings about it.

Hi there! Has anyone heard about Summer or Fall 2021 acceptances after the March 12 decision date? I know things have been crazy with placements during COVID so I’m sure that’s the hold up. I’m just getting anxious!

I still haven’t heard anything. I was told by the admissions team that because of the clinical placement element of the DABSN program, they do not use the same admissions schedule as the on-campus programs.

Hello!

The Summer 21 cohort is full I believe. We had orientation last week and were told the cohort was full. The only caveat is that could change if people don’t fulfill their compliance requirements, which would open up some spots. Compliance is due by May 1st, classes start May 17th. Hope this is helpful! I don’t know anything about the fall cohort.
