Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!
As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:
I am sorry you guys did not get a good award letter! I was hoping all of us could start this exciting journey together at Emory this fall.
I recieved grants and scholarships that covered almost all of my expenses and I did recieve one loan for like 2000.
Thank you LisaMac! StarinMyhands, I am sorry about your letter.
Good luck to you to Lisamac & StarsinmyHands
Lily4Emory- We all were looking forward to getting to know ea other in the fall but looks like Emory will be too expensive for me. BIG CONGRATS to you and I sincerely mean it....hey at least somebody got good fin aid! I'm just disappointed bcause I did a lot of research and Emory is supposed to be one of the most generous schools re: institutional aid, grants & scholarships (excluding loans). They are also publicized to meet 100% of a students need (excluding loans) because they have so much funding. I have an EFC of 0 and also a dependent, am married & returning to school, have a perfect GPA and lots of community svc. I thought I would fit the bill to receive aid similar to yours but I guess not. Really disappointed:( I wish you good luck at Emory!
@stars I was wondering the same thing....
I got my finaid package...i will be attending..still have to take out 10k in loans...however my HOPE scholarship did not show up...also I should be eligible for the Deans scholarship....sooo hmm i dunno hopefully they send those out separately that would be nice!!
I emailed the advisor to see.....so as soon as I know something I will let you know..and if you find out something let me know!
Creece- I didn't see Hope on mine either...
the 10k in loans, is that for 1 semester, the whole year or the whole program (2years)?
i added up the cost of attendance, i think it's like 20,147 (excluding housing) and i got like 11025 in grants & scholarships which is good but unfortunately not enough for me. (that # is per semester) so that's how i got my total shortage- 38k which i would have to take in loans (for the entire 4 semester program).
Tuition, expenses, and fees (excluding living expenses, books/ supplies, and transportation) = $36,764 for 1 year. The total 2 year program cost will be about 70K.
I didn't really receive much of any aid at all but they offered loans. I'm not going to take out any loans or accept the loans they offered, but I will still be attending. It would have been nice to receive that 11K but I knew that was wishful thinking...
I only got 2 grants for the whole year 6000 on one and 750 for another, that wont make a dent in the total cost of Emory. They also offered me 2 loans but I refuse to take out a loan for that much money, I would be working just to pay that loan off, not worth it at my age.
I was told they do accept HOPE but I did not see that on my aid package neither, I was told it was like 3000 a year.
Good Luck all, you will do great...
