Emory Accepted Students Fall 2011

Published

Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!

As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:

Has any of you applied to other schools ?

Lisamac, yes I did. I applied to and got accepted at Mercer GBCN and GSU's Ace Program. I'm anxiously awaiting Emory's fin aid pckg so I can figure out where I can afford to go. :bowingpurI praying that the pckg will allow me to go to Emory bcause it is my #1 choice. We'll see....I will check again 2m ;)

That's great. I just got accepted to Clayton state on Friday. So at least we have a back up.

I am afraid it is going to be too expensive since I did not get any Finacial aid but all I can do is wait for the packet and see what it says.

Lisamac, Congrats for ur acceptance into CSU! When u say u didn't get any fin aid, r u replying to the FAFSA & the EFC on there? How do u know u won't get any fin aid at Emory since their pckgs haven't been released yet?

sorry i meant "referring"...

Award letters are out. I am older and they take my salary and my husbands salary and we make too much. I am going to check opus right now I got a personal email a few minutes ago so I wanted to tell you.

I AM SOOO HAPPY WITH MY FINANCIAL AID AWARD FROM EMORY! :yeah:Praise God! Did you guys hear anything yet?

I did, not too impressed ... I was hoping for more aid. Will you have to take out stafford loans? If I do (which I don't want to) then it would be almost 80% covered.

:(

I would have to take out loans and then come up with another 8 grand for the remainder of the balance. The 6 grand grant would not make much of a difference because I want to be debt free when I graduate. I guess I am honored to be accepted to Emory but Clayton will get me. Good luck to all those who got great aid.

Lily4emory. Good luck I am glad you got a good package

I wasn't too impressed myself, was also hoping for more grants/scholarships and not loans. Grants & scholarships covered a lil more than half n that means I would have to take out loans for the remainder, almost 38k worth!

Lily4Emory- did u get all grants & scholarships? or is urs similar to mine?

Lisamac- I'm with you...I'm honored to be accepted by Emory but if I can be debt free attending Georgia State, then I would be happier.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Emory has been my dream school but I don't think I'll go either. I think I'll apply for Kennesaw State Spring 2011. In reading previous posts (from older threads) I could see that some students received several scholarships. I for one think that the scholarships that are offered by Emory have certain qualifications. I just can't believe for the life of me why some students who have 0 dependents got more aid than I who has several dependents???
