Hello! I have been accepted to Emory's 2011 BSN program, and I wanted to create a new place for those that have also been accepted to keep in contact as we prepare for the fall. I am also interested in current and past students to offer any vital information that will help make this transition easier. I know this will be a very challenging program and I can only imagine everything I must do to be successful. So all advice and discussion are welcome!
As of now, I am very anxious about financial aid because it is unlikely that I will be able to submit my income tax return by March 15th. What are all my joining class thinking about now that we got the acceptance part out the way?:yelclap:
*Update ...
I called financial aid today to inquire (yet again) about the HOPE scholarship. I was told that I would have to designate my award for Fall 2011 to go to Emory. Regarding whether or not having the HOPE scholarship would reduce my existing scholarships/grants I was told that it would not that it would simply be added on the aid I have received thus far.
I am hoping that this is the case, that it is a matter of just designating Emory as the receiving school for my Fall '11 HOPE award. Here's hoping ..
@yayaccepted
I hope that you make the right decision, whatever is the best for you and your family. I'm praying that I too make the right choice and that whatever happens I want it to be God's will for my life. I actually received additional grants/scholarships since a few days after the initial award were posted online and I thank God for this!
The deadline to decide on accepting Emory or not is fast approaching!
Take care!
Amisadai- thx n good luck to you in NC!!!
lily4Emory- yes i just got an email today about admitted students day
hereicome-i was told the same thing by Katie...did u pay ur deposit yet? if it will take them several wks to review, i guess we'll have to make the decision b4 then rt?
starsinmyhands-did u pay ur deposit? im tryin to figure out if they'll only review those who have paid the deposit or not....hmmm.....
@yayaaccepted.
I just mailed my check for the deposit. For me, i don't have many options because I applied only to Emory, so I will be attending no matter the fin. aid. I am just trying to minimize my loan, but I'm ready to take it if it's the only option. I looked at other schools and those that favor me based on the cost, required prereqs, and length of program are far from my home. Right now, I don't have mush options. I'll only try to do what I can to start the program and then find out means of getting more aid next year.
@hereicome- oh I see....in that case, I can def understand ur situation. Yeah, rt now, I'm really leaning towards Emory. I posted "why", under my discussion "Emory or GSU?" I'm really praying that after my file is re-reviewed, I'll get a little more aid so I can take out less loans:) I hope everyone gets more aid:)

Hey guys!
This is for those who are willing to pull out a loan. I have heard that MEDCAP has been an alternative for those who have maxed out their stafford loans. This could be a way to cover whatever financial aid didn't cover.
I really wish you guys the best. I will not be attending Emory anymore due to my acceptance to UNC Chapel Hill in NC (20k vs 72k).
Hopefully one day we all can work together :-)
Good luck to you all!!!!!!!!
