Emory absn 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I figured I would start a thread for the upcoming application cycle for Emory's ABSN program. I am excited to get everything in and apply, I am just waiting to take my TEAS.

I am currently applying to a total of 10 schools across the country. But I must admit I've been very impressed with everyone's stats and am not sure what my chances are (hence the number of applications). Besides Emory I have applied to George Washington, Penn State (Altoona), Purdue, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Medical University of South Carolina, Union University (2 campuses), and Creighton University. They are not all in yet. I am waiting for my letters of recommendation to come in and then I will be submitting a large batch all at once. How about you?

Oh my gosh that must be expensive! I spent almost $200 just applying to two schools! But other than Emory, I've only applied to Kennesaw State. If I get into Emory, I won't apply to Mercer, but if I don't then I will. I was also looking at applying to North Georgia, but I'd have to take the HESI A2 and I really don't want to since I'm taking a full class load right now and I don't have time to study for it. I did really well on the TEAS so, I'm basically applying to schools that require that test lol.

That is why I need my GRE waived. I do not score well on standardized testing, so none of the other schools that I am applying to require any. Half of these schools are on NurseCAS so that has cut down tremendously on applications fees as far as transcripts etc (only one order for each school, etc.). The rest I figure are difficult to get into so I better spread my luck around and see what takes. Good luck to you with all of your applications.

Hey! I'm a little late to the game. Getting ready to submit my app tomorrow. This may be a dumb question, but on the section where they want you to fill in your education, did you guys just put the institution where you got your previous degree or did you also add the colleges where you took/currently taking your prerequisites?

Thanks in advance!

I submitted the college where I'm getting my B.S/B.A from, but I sent the transcripts from my home school and the college I take classes at over the summer. You can list both, but if you don't and you send them the transcripts to both anyway, they'll update it on your application (so now my application checklist shows that I've taken classes at 2 colleges)!

Hello everyone,

I have applied and was wondering if all decisions for the priority deadline applications were released on Nov. 15? Have read that notifications are sent out then, but have also heard that admission is rolling.

If anyone has any answers, let me know!

Thanks

Hi Cpat32,

I think i have heard 10/15 for priority decisions. Beyond that, I think you know as about as much as the rest of us. I have been in contact with them regarding some questions and it sounds like they are currently reviewing all applications in the order that they arrived. I still have a few red checks remaining and they said that they would likely be checked off finally as the admissions team reviews and confirms the applications as they get them. That is what I heard as of yesterday 10/4. Good luck to you!

Has anyone experienced any delay in your transcripts getting a green check? I ordered all three of my transcripts to be delivered electronically on 10/1 and only one has a green check mark. I just wasn't sure, why one was viewed and the others weren't. I guess I should just give it time?? I'm sure there are a lot of applicants applying now.

yes. I submitted my app back in September, and I still have some red marks around courses that are included in my transcripts. I'll be calling them to inquire about it

The red checks seem to be a common frustration in the application process from what I can gather. I called during business hours and the lady on the phone actually check my remaining transcripts off for me on the phone, which was great. From what I can gather, the green checks do not mean reviewed as much as received. Your prereqs are checked off as the transcripts are actually reviewed. They are also completing this process in the order they were received....is what I was told last week. I am still waiting on a GRE waiver and my last prereq to be checked off.

I actually e-mailed [email protected] to see whether my pre-reqs would turn green upon review, and they e-mailed me back saying that they updated my completed pre-reqs so that my application status accurately reflected everything that has been completed. They never actually said whether green check marks mean received or reviewed, but my guess is that the admissions committee is not the group of individuals actually checking off pre-reqs (I think it's the people that run the [email protected] e-mail account, whoever those people might be).

Can everyone please share their stats! this is my second time applying and I want to make sure I am on the right track! Thanks!
