EMORY ABSN+MSN 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So I decided to start a thread for the Fall 2018. Any current/prospective student on here? What GPA did you have when you applied and how competitive is the selection process? If you don't mind sharing your work experience and GRE score, that will be awesome. For those who are enrolled, do you mind sharing your experience?

I applied in July to the dual CNM & FNP program and hadn't received any notification that the track had been discontinued. The only red X on my application is a prerequisite that I am currently taking.

Hi AFutureNP,

Unfortunately, the dual track CNM and FNP specialty has most definitely been discontinued. Many of us were disappointed by the decision especially in the middle of the application period. NurseB_2NP and I both have submitted our new specialty choices in the last week or so. I suggest you contact admissions and let them know so you can fill out the change of specialty form. They were quite responsive when I e-mailed them.

I'm going to assume the MSN application is on different timeline since we submit LOR's and a personal statement. So I'll patiently wait to hear from admissions.

I can see how you can be anxious when some people have already received acceptance calls.

**Crossing fingers for everyone**

If anyone has any question about what it's like being a nurse - feel free to PM me.

Hey guys! So I just got around to submitting my application today. How long will it take to process? When do you think I will hear back?

According to their website, you should hear back by November 15th. It is possible to hear back before then though.

@TangoDeux

I've messaged them, but have yet to hear back.

I feel like since they reached out to you personally to let you know, that's a good sign. They must have their eye on you.

Lol, thank you for the confidence boost @AFutureNP I really needed that today. The school receives 3000+ applications each cycle and I am only one among many outstanding candidates with backgrounds and experiences in healthcare that completely eclipse my own. I just hope that the school is willing to at least look at my application. This hasn't even happened yet given that my pre-reqs aren't even checked off even though all my transcripts have been received.

Honestly, I don't think I have a higher priority then other applicants since I didn't do my undergrad at Emory nor do I live in Georgia. As I mentioned before, I think that is why some individuals have already been admitted. I read a few threads from the 2016 and 2017 boards from Emory alumni that it is practically a given that Emory alumni are prioritized and almost always admitted into their nursing grad program of choice if they choose to apply.

The e-mail I received was just a generic e-mail from their communications department and I suspect that I received it only because I signed up to receive their e-mail notifications months ago and told them what my prospective specialty was going to be. I doubt it was anything more then that.

Has anyone else heard back from Emory?

Is anyone else extremely anxious/nervous??? This notification process is so confusing and has me checking my e-mail and application status like crazy. Anyone else going through this?

I am in the same boat as you! I am hoping a GRE score of (150V and 156Q) and cGPA of 3.4 is good enough!

Hey everyone! I emailed back and forth with someone from admissions last Thursday. They assured me that my prerequisites and GRE waiver have not been checked off yet because my transcripts still have not been reviewed (I applied August 9). So...not to worry - they are still in the reviewing stage!

Thank you @HMorenoT for the update! I was wondering what was happening since none of my pre-reqs have been reviewed yet either and I submitted in early July. Good to know they are still reviewing!

Has anyone on this thread been accepted to the ABSN program? I would love to hear your stats. I just submitted my application and I'm so nervous.
