I'll be entering the workforce as a second-career nurse with Gen Zee and while I'm decades older than them, I feel we share a lot of common ground and there is much to be celebrated about what they add to the cohort. I agree with the @Mergirlc about the Microbiology class - I had the same experience! But I feel like most of those students who weren't paying attention or didn't seem to care didn't make it very far. I'm sure there are negative characteristics to every generation, but I really appreciate the call for diversity and the push for technology that Gen Zee has.

Yes! For students, take the time to brush up on your writing skills because every scholarship or fellowship I've ever applied to required at least one essay. This is a case where a lack of proper grammar could actually cost you an opportunity.

Something that helps me is instead of focusing on memorizing, focus on understanding. Do you know the concept well enough to teach it to a classmate? Can you explain the process? Just pretend you're helping a struggling student and you're walking them through the topic. Talk out loud, who cares if you look crazy! At times when the words are on the tip of your tongue but you just can't come up with them, look them up and write those words down. Then start the process all over again. After "pretend-teaching" this concept a few times, you'll feel it flow. Then move on to the next topic. I cannot stress enough how important it is to understand vs. memorize. Because every new challenge is building on your mastery of the last one. When you truly understand a topic it will make you a better problem solver, and that's a big part of nursing.

I've got the "Pay Admission Deposit" too. Not sure if that's always been there or not because I don't visit my OPUS account very often. Under the "View Online Decision" it still says my admission decision is not available at this time. I am going to try to not get my hopes up!

I applied in July to the dual CNM & FNP program and hadn't received any notification that the track had been discontinued. The only red X on my application is a prerequisite that I am currently taking.

I've applied for the Summer 2018 cohort. I submitted my application in July. I'm applying with a Bachelor's in an unrelated field with a GPA of 3.65. My pre-requisite GPA is 3.31. I didn't have to take the GRE because it was waived for my undergrad GPA. I'm not sure how competitive the selection process is, but my guess is that it's very selective. From my understanding, it's a large pool of qualified applicants with a relatively small number of openings.
