EMORY ABSN+MSN 2018

Published

So I decided to start a thread for the Fall 2018. Any current/prospective student on here? What GPA did you have when you applied and how competitive is the selection process? If you don't mind sharing your work experience and GRE score, that will be awesome. For those who are enrolled, do you mind sharing your experience?

Uh oh! Then maybe that isn't such a good sign for me then since I did e-mail twice and no one was willing to clear my pre-reqs for me. I guess all I can do is wait. Yeah, I might be wrong about Peds. I am on so many threads right now I am sure I am getting them crossed somewhere lol. It should be just FNP and AG so far for Emory, I will need to double check the old posts but I am pretty sure that those two specialties have had applicants post that they have been admitted.

Well plus what I'm confused about is do they save spots for people who applied right on 10/15/17? Like how can the selection committees even meet before the deadline?

Also I totally didn't mean to freak you out!!! I'm sure you didn't even talk to the same person as me. All I meant is that I think I just happened to get ahold of someone really nice/accommodating. Plus I did email her after my application got switched from ABSN to ABSN+MSN so some of the red boxes were apparently just from switching programs and stuff not transferring the way it was supposed to.

I think because some spots are probably reserved / ear marked for certain people like I mentioned in my previous post. Some are allocated to Emory alumni etc and what ever criteria the school selects. I used to hire people for one of the companies I used to work for and we would select only from certain schools that we had a relationship with. So I am not surprised if Emory does the same as well.

No, you didn't freak me out lol, don't worry on that front. I am just taking it one day at a time and trying to keep busy so I don't think about the wait too much. I will just take it as it comes and see what happens. That being said, I would still like to know but the process will take as long as it takes for the wheels of the application process to turn.

Just a quick update. I e-mailed the SON again to ask about my pre-reqs and they basically said the same thing they told me last time but with a few more details. An admissions counselor reviews our apps and transcripts then manually checks off and clears the pre-reqs requirements on our app. They also said that it is normal to have unchecked items at this time since we are in the middle of the review cycle. If anyone else has items that aren't checked off like me, it is suppose to be like that until an admissions counselor reviews your application.

Update for those who are worried about review - my prereqs and GRE waiver were just checked off yesterday! Looks like they are making their way through the rest of the applications now.

Thank you fur the update! I'm hoping that it is taking so long for me because they are checking the applications alphabetically. Since I am at the end of the alphabet, I should hopefully get everything checked off within the next two weeks depending on how fast they go through the apps. Fingers crossed!

Hello everyone!

To address some of the general concerns on this thread:

1. Our FNP +CNM dual specialty program is being phased out for a variety of factors. 90% of students that initially enroll in any of our dual specialty programs either dropped one of the specialties before completion or only became licensed in one of the specialties. With this data in mind, this decision was finalized by school leadership. We apologize for the inconvenience and timing of this decision.

*If you have applied to this program and have not yet indicated to us your desired single specialty please email us at [email protected] and we will attach a form to your checklist for you to fill out*

2. Do not worry at all if your prerequisites are not yet checked off. These do not affect your admissions process in anyway. The checklist for prerequisites is mostly so that we know what has been taken and what actions need to be taken before that student enrolls in the program. Please keep in mind that we are a small office with a large amount of applicants, it can take some time before they are checked off completely. *You can still receive a decision with some prerequisites not yet checked off*

3. Our deadlines are written out on our website as well as on the application portal and student status page. We do not give out official admissions notifications until the posted notification deadline (i.e. October 15th, notification date is November 15th)

If anyone has further questions please feel free to email us at [email protected] or you can call at 404.727.7980

Thank you Emory Nursing for the additional information and the additional insight into the application process.

This might have been asked previously, so I'm sorry if I missed it, but does anyone know how many apply to Emory vs how many are accepted? And is it pretty rare to be interviewed? Do they mostly just accept people without an interview needed? Thanks!

According to previous threads, Emory receives around 3000+ applications each application cycle and I believe accepts around 200-300 applicants.

Emory does not require interviews and most specialties will admit an applicant without an interview. But they reserve the right to interview you if the admissions committee deems it necessary.

Below is the link to the FAQ on the Emory website, hopefully it can answer your question in more detail.

So it looks like all my pre-reqs have been checked off as of yesterday but my application status still says submitted. Is it suppose to change to completed or ready for admission committee review?
