Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 Program

Published

Hi everyone,

I thought I would get a thread started for the Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 application cycle. I am going to the information session next Friday, July 24th for the program.

Has anyone else started to get ready for this application cycle?

So 2 things are making me uneasy -

1) I applied to the ABSN+MSN track, but I just noticed on OPUS on the first page where it says "my applications" it says "bachelor of science in nursing". Is anyone else seeing this too?

2) I reread the threads and saw a couple of people mentioned a cover letter. I never even thought of this and only submitted my resume. I guess I only think of cover letters for jobs and never schools (bc there's typically a personal statement). Did everyone else submit a cover letter or no?

Thanks! Everyone has been so helpful :)

Hi Lyndsmar,

I was accepted to the ABSN+MSN program, and my OPUS also says "BSN summer 2016" in the little box. I think this may be what it says for everyone? Also, there has been no update on my OPUS whatsoever, and I remember reading somewhere on here that OPUS was only used for financial aid and billing purposes, and that it would not be updated to reflect your standing. But don't quote me on that, because it's just something I remember reading.

Don't know about the cover letter---I didn't submit one.

(forgot to insert quote)

Hey! I was also admitted to the ABSN + MSN (FNP) program. I actually am from Washington State (Tacoma/Spanaway) though I went to undergrad in South Carolina. So you will have a fellow transplant with you!

Hello! I was admitted on Oct. 22nd for the ASBN + MSN (adult/gero) program. I submitted my application on Oct. 14th I believe? What track is everyone else in? And as you can tell, I'm from Seattle, which brings me to the question of whether there will be any other transplants? :)

Stats: BS in Biology, 3.25 for undergrad and 3.9 for post-bac pre-req courses

GRE: 157R, 153Q, 4.5W

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting!

okay awesome. That's a real relief, thank you!

Of those who have already been accepted, has anyone heard back about any financial aid packages?

Hello! It is so great to have someone from this area going to school at Emory as well! Did you just graduate from undergrad?

Unfortunately, I don't think we hear back about our financial aid package until March/April. Is anyone applying for scholarships? Woodruff Scholarship in particular?

Travelingseattleite I am currently in undergrad. I graduate in May. I'm also applying for the Woodruff scholarship, I will actually be submitting my app tonight! Yay

Thanks for the info. Emory is my top school, the only way I can feasibly go is if I get some financial assistance! So I'm hoping I get a good package.

Do we need to apply for scholarships and financial aid before hearing an admission decision?

If you want to get a scholarship through Emory (other than the ones students are automatically considered for like some merit ones and some minority ones) most of their deadlines are Tuesday. So if you don't think you'll be able to cover the costs, even with a financial aid package, it wouldn't hurt to apply.

Has anyone else who has been wait listed been contacted for more info (personal statement, recommendation, etc)? I am dying to give more information, because I only have positive information to add to my application. I started a new position in a related field to my intended specialty in a hospital and I have new semester grades to update. Being on the wait list is so nerve-wracking.
