Emory ABSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I noticed there has not been a thread started for Emory's ABSN Fall 2018 (just the ABSN-MSN). Have any of you applied?

Yesterday was the priority deadline and from looking at threads from past years, it looks like people have received decisions as early as 10/16. Has anyone heard back?

If anyone is interested in sharing stats, feel free :)

Hi all, does anyone know what the typical class size is for the ABSN cohort? Thank you!

Great question. I would like to know this as well?

I'm in Emory's ABSN program right now and our class is around 100. The ABSN program has been growing rapidly so I'm not sure if they are trying for an even bigger class for next year.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I appreciate it.

Thanks for posting info about the class size. I am glad it is a relatively small group. If you wouldn't mind, would you possibly answer some general questions about the program, area, etc. 1. What are your general/overall thoughts on the program so far? 2. Are you finding the pace of the courses/semesters manageable? 3. Is there support and guidance from the faculty? 4. Clinicals - how is placement handled? 5. What is the area like? Is it safe? 6. Suggestions for housing nearby campus? 7. Do you have roommates? If so, how did you find them? 8. How do you get to campus (shuttle or drive?) 9. Is there a dining hall/meal plan option? 10. Lastly, did they offer any financial aid or is there a incentive/tuition reimbursement if you find employment with the Emory Healthcare system after graduation? 11. Do you feel like you have time to enjoy the area and Atlanta? I know there are quite a few of questions, but it would be a great help to get firsthand info and advice from someone currently in the program! Not being familiar with Atlanta, the area or knowing anyone there, it would be great to get your input. THANKS SO MUCH

I have a 3.75 GPA overall B.A. in Health and Human Biology, and 3.8 in the pre-requisite courses. I've worked as a CNA for a little over a year, and also volunteer transporting patients in the emergency dept of a women's health hospital. I've also worked as a clinical research assistant for a few different projects. GRE: quant, 48th percentile; reading, 75 percentile; writing 86 percentile. Hope that helps!

I think we should be hearing if we got merit scholarships today! Has anyone received anything yet?

Do you know where we go to find the merit based awards?

Nothing!! I was more nervous today than on November 15! However, I just found something on the Emory website that says the merit-based scholarship deadline is December 15. I know I saw December 1 somewhere else, but I can't remember where at this point. I will probably call on Monday to clarify.

Accelerated BSN Financial Aid 2

I could have sworn it said December 1 before too!

The ABSN/MSN cohort called and ask about this and the school has said that Dec 1st was a typo. It will be Dec 15th and after before they release the scholarship and fin aid information just to keep you all in the loop as well.

So it did say Dec 1st on the website but we have confirmed that it is a typo by the school. It will be Dec 15th and after before we will hear back about fin aid and merit based aid.
