Emory ABSN Fall 2018

Published

Hi everyone! I noticed there has not been a thread started for Emory's ABSN Fall 2018 (just the ABSN-MSN). Have any of you applied?

Yesterday was the priority deadline and from looking at threads from past years, it looks like people have received decisions as early as 10/16. Has anyone heard back?

If anyone is interested in sharing stats, feel free :)

Congrats to everyone! I got waitlisted. I knew I didn't have chance but I'm grateful that they even waitlisted me. For those of you that got in what were your stats? Also, has anyone ever gotten in off of the waitlist?

Graduated cum laude with a 3.56, undergrad degrees in Communications/French

Only two science pre-reqs complete so far: A in A&P1, C- in chem from 4 years ago but am currently taking Chem 1, A&P2, and Microbio at a community college (As in human development and nutrition from CC)

Leadership, internship, service, research and employment experience - NONE in a hospital/med setting, but I'm a volunteer with the Red Cross.

85.3% TEAS which is a 90-something compared nationally

I did not take the TEAS test so that may have something to do with it.

I got accepted! I have a 3.45 GPA overall, 3.27 in prerequisites, used my ACT from 4 years ago that I got a 33 on, and I work as a CNA at the local hospital

I posted my stats on the first page but I'll post them here too. I didn't expect to get in because of my GPA. As for the waitlist, it's definitely better than not getting in, but to be bumped up from it just depends on how many people decline their spot in the class (which a decent amount of people might do, due to the cost)

B.S. in Biology with 3.43 GPA

TEAS 94%

I volunteered in an undergraduate research lab

I have no medical background

I put a lot of effort into my personal statement. It is optional to submit, but I was told that they really like to read about who you are.

I hope you get a chance to get off the waitlist. Or at least applied to other schools!

Here are my stats:

-3.4 undergraduate GPA in Gender Studies

-Submitted my old SAT scores taken in high school about 4 years ago

-Still have 3 in progress prerequisites (chem, microbio, physiology)

-My stats are eh and I have a load of prerequisites to complete, but I think I owe my acceptance to my extracurriculars. I have 2 years of experience at a neuro-oncology office, published abstract in the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, volunteered at the hospital and student org at school to combat homelessness.

-I think my personal statement was strong

Who else is freaking out about the cost? I am! I'm hoping they'll be generous about the financial package and scholarships. Does anyone know when to hear about that?

We're supposed to hear about financial aid on December 15!

Is there a Facebook group for this program?

I also was just accepted! We'll find out if we got merit based scholarships on December 1st! And then we'll hear about needs based financial aid on the 15th.

I got waitlisted, too. Better than a decline! I'm still hopeful.

Congrats to all those who got accepted!
