Emory ABSN Fall 2016

Published

Hi!

Today was the priority deadline for Emory's ABSN program, and I've already heard back from them that I've been waitlisted. I submitted my application and all the materials early, but I was surprised they made a decision so early! Anyone else in the same boat?

I suppose it's better than a rejection, but so early in the process I'm a little confused about what it means to be on the waitlist.

Does anyone who got accepted have plans to go on to MSN after the ABSN program? Do you know how hard it is to get in?

Was anybody else surprise how easy the application process was? It almost seemed like admissions was based on GPA

The point of being a college student and eventually a nurse is learning to solve simple problems by yourself. Find and use resources. When the resources are depleted and you don't have an answer- forum.

@EGGnurse2b I'm going and the flight is booked(!!), but I haven't received an invitation to RSVP to the actual event yet. I wonder if they will have "activities" for people who come with us. My S/O will be with me and I don't want him to be bored the entire day!

@kikiya I actually emailed Emory's "nursingquestions" email address to ask if they have a submatricuation option for ABSN students to move into the MSN that is easier for current students than going through the application process again, but their answer was vague and not too helpful. Basically they wrote that after receiving the ABSN we would be eligible to apply for the MSN program. I am assuming that we would have the same chances of getting in as anyone else applying for the program.

Does anyone know the total cost of the academic program (without housing, food, etc)?

@avt829 I can answer that!

I wrote before in an earlier post that tuition is 21k for one semester, so 84k for the entire program. This number is tuition alone and does not include housing, books, supplies, etc.

To answer your question specifically, books and supplies will also add up and increase the cost of attendance and is technically an academic cost, so that is at least +$300 (fees) +$1,800 (supplies) per semester, giving you a total of around $23,100 per semester.

Does anyone know anything about their need-based financial aid? I was told by an employee that Emory only gives up to 3,000 for need-based aid, but I've read that they're typically generous (through the threads). Can anyone confirm or deny this? The cost is really a deciding factor :(

Hello everyone,

For those of you who received merit-based scholarship, do you know when the deadline is to accept? Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have any opinions of KSU vs GSU nursing

? Anything? GSU vs KSU?

? Anything? GSU vs KSU?

Honestly, I think it's going to come down to personal preference and pro/cons suited to an individual. Both are state funded public universities, offering similar tracks-for similar costs. Both offer good programs with clinical rotations at some of the same hospital institutions. I feel that the level of education you receive is going to be comparable, but they are situated in different environments, so that may make a difference it what you are more suited for.

Specializes in ICU.

Did anybody on here attend Emory undergrad?

I graduated with a BS from Emory a few years ago and am applying for ABSN fall 2017. An admissions advisor just told me that, because I have a degree from Emory already, as long as I have an overall GPA above 3.0 and science/math GPA above 2.8, I'm automatically admitted to the program.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Seems too good to be true..

Anyone here have any opinions of GSU vs KSUs nursing programs????
