  1. Hey! I'm in the ABSN cohort that just started this May. VCU doesn't require you to take the GRE, so you have nothing to worry about! :)
  2. Woo! I was accepted too. Is everyone going to accept the offer? Should we make a Facebook group? :) So excited to finally have an answer!
  3. I did my interview mid-January and I haven't heard a peep!
  4. I didn't either! I was wait listed in October, and they requested the online interview portion about a week ago as part of their decision. I'm applying for the (non-MSN) ABSN program.
  5. The interview went alright. There were two video interview parts, each about a 2 minute answer (after a minute of prep time). The surprise was there was a written part, too. No prep time, 5 minutes or so to write a response. That part was challenging. Good luck!!
  6. I got the request for an interview too. I'm planning to do it tomorrow, so I can update you then.
  7. For those who applied Priority in October . . . I called this morning and the review of wait-listed candidates will happen in January. They said around January 15 we can expect to hear news back. Also, we will definitely hear a Yes/No response from them - we won't languish on the wait-list forever!
  8. I returned my Declaration of Intent before the first deadline they sent me. I said "YES", but I did not include the tuition deposit. I found out that I could get the deadline extended to after the W2 Interview date only after pushing a little bit during a phone conversation with GW Admissions... I got the impression they want our deposits ASAP. The admissions officer I spoke to did make it seem like everyone would get this extension once they RSVP'd for a W2 interview. After I sent my RSVP for date in February, I received a new email from the Office of Admissions that confirmed my Declaration of Intent had been processed, and that my deposit would be due a week after the W2 interview date. Hopefully this clarifies things ...
  9. Sadly, no. You have to fly out to DC to interview and submit an essay to be considered for W2. The advantage to RSVPing to a W2 interview is that your response and tuition deposit deadline is extended - they don't expect these things from you until you've heard whether you're accepted to W2. (You find out whether you've been accepted to W2 exactly a week after your interview.)
  10. Also congratulations!
  11. I got a separate email about a week later inviting me to the w2 interview. It included two dates to choose from.
  12. I figured that we won't hear anything back unless we are taken off the wait list. On other schools' forums I've read about people being admitted from the wait list as late as the day before school starts! Hopefully this is rare. Basically I think as long as people are deciding, we may hear back.
  13. And for those interested in my stats as an applicant: I have a BS in Industrial Engineering with a pretty low GPA, 3.08 - I graduated in 2008. My prereq GPA is 4.0. So I can only assume they put emphasis on prereq GPAs when making their decision! I still have Microbiology and Lifespan Psychology in progress this semester, and I will have to take Ethics and Nutrition this spring. I have no direct health care experience outside of volunteering at a Planned Parenthood the last 6 months. My role there is to support patients - I am in the surgical room assisting nurses and doctors, but only indirectly as I'm not a medical assistant.
  14. Congratulations to everyone who's gotten in! I submitted my application 11/5 and heard back on 11/19 that I was accepted! I was very excited, but also unsure about whether to say yes. GW is requiring my response by December 5, along with the non-refundable deposit, but I am anticipating admissions decisions from other schools in February and March. I really want to wait for these decisions! But I also really want to go with a sure thing at a program as great as GW! For those of you in the same boat, I spoke with the admissions advisor at GW, and she said that normally there isn't a way to extend a response deadline. But because I applied to the W2 program, they will not need my decision until a week after my W2 interview. I RSVP'd for the February 6 interview date, hoping that I understood what the advisor was telling me! I remember reading that you hear back whether you've been accepted to W2 a week after your interview, so I assume they are giving me a chance to base my admissions decision on whether I get into W2. Best of luck to everyone still waiting for a response.
  15. Hi! Just wanted to add myself to the conversation - I also haven't received any confirmation from VCU about my application. My application materials and references were all submitted by October 27. Will y'all post when/if you hear anything? Thanks!
