Tom, I am so sorry this has happened to you. I'm a student and getting a needlestick is probably my worst fear. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope everything turns out okay.

Man that really BITES!! I am so sorry about that! I said a prayer for you, and I agree that the chances are slim that your health will be affected, but I know your emotions are probably a wreck! Please keep up posted.

Perhaps we should take up a condom collection for Tom. Anyone have unusual, colored, or flavored ones. He shouldn't have to spend money on top of all his other worries. (Tom, is employee health giving you freebies, or do we have to gang up on them?)

Seriously though, I will send my hopes for an uneventful 6 months and negative tests.

....but if you'd post your address....we'd all donate, right guys?

My heart just sank when I read that. I'm so sorry that happened to you, just for the emotional turmoil alone. Hope the drugs don't tear you up too much.

Nowadays they have flavored ones, so maybe you and your wife can get a little can-dy, if you know what I mean.

It happened to me once many years ago, sometime around 1989. I was only about 24 at the time and single. One false move and whoopsie, full-blown AIDS pt needle stick in the thumb. There was no precautionary drug cocktail then, and the needless system was in the embryonic stage and too expensive for our teaching (read: indigent) hospital to afford. Just had to ride it out and get tested every 3-6 months for 2 years. Which I did (ride it out, anxiously) and I was and still am negative. I stuck myself big-time and I never contracted HIV. You'll be okay too. I know how it feels and I wish the best for you!
