Hi lunaRN, I'm a new member and currently an EC student. i've read quite a number of your posts. Just out of curiosity, is there any advantage of doing the chamberlain RN-BSN as oppossed to the Excelsior ASN-BSN? The EC BSN degree is just a few classes away from the ASN it appears.

There were advantages for me -- your experience may be different. EC wanted me to repeat some lower-level classes, and I had 3 Associates degrees and 206 college credits going in, so I didn't really want to take more classes just to fork over more cash. I also wanted a school that didn't have a big enrollment fee (I would have qualified for the returning student discounted enrollment fee that is $500-something), a big annual fee ($440), or a graduation fee ($495). I was also ready for something besides EC for the next couple of years! I was disappointed that the BSN advisors couldn't tell me if they'd give me credit for my statistics course until I paid the enrollment fee. Umm ... no. I guess I expected a little courtesy as a returning student, so I decided to take my education and $$$ elsewhere. Yes, Chamberlain is more expensive per credit hour, but because I have to do fewer credits with Chamberlain, it shakes out to a very similar number, bottom line. I'm very glad I made the choice I did -- I've already funded nearly half of my BSN through my employer's tuition reimbursement and a scholarship, so the money out of my pocket will be less than $10K. Not bad for a BSN!

Thank so much for all the info. It just seems there are a lot of EC ASN students out there but very few BSNs. I wish you all the very best at Chamberlain.

So far, I am enjoying the transitions class, interesting topics. In my VERY short nursing career, I did not realize I was learning so much! I feel like this class is bringing out all I have actually learned. How is class going for everyone else?

I also set up my schedule for the next two semesters with academic advising. Should be done in June 2010, yeah!!!:yeah:

I am enjoying transitions, love the soc-cultural diversity class so far too, and the college algebra is moving along, I will have it completed by week 4 so far so good! I am certainly kept busy.

Olivia,

Yesss certainly I am enjoying the class and felt like I am learning a lot. So...I guess we are in the same class.

I am planning to take Assessment and College Algebra.

Any take on how difficult/easy those classes will be? :) I hope so....

The college algebra is self-paced and not that difficult. If you hit the ground running you can fly through the class. I'll be taking the final exam by the end of next week and I'm no math genius. I don't have to take health assessment as I transferred it in but I'm sure it is OK.

I'm taking two self paced algebra courses now 092 and 114. They're driving me nuts, but I'm no math genius. I took Assessment Nov. 2008. There's a paper due every week. The final project is a power point presentation about assessing a patient for a particular disease entity.

I just love this school and program. I really do! Can you guys believe we are at the halfway point in the session already? Yeah! So I worked out my schedule for the coming semesters and I will be done next April! I'm looking into MSN-PMHNP programs that are online now to decide where I will go for my MSN, but there is no doubt it will be via distance/online education. I LOVE facilitating my own learning and not being spoon fed material that you just regurgitate back on someone else's schedule. This so rocks!

End of week 5 is here! Defintely enjoying class. So glad I made the decision to enroll. Right now taking a break from typing my research paper. How is everyone else doing?

Doing good! I'm excited to be at the end of week 5. I completed the algebra class and so now am just taking 2 classes. I'm a little miffed at financial aid somehow they sent my financial aid refund check to the wrong address(AFTER I had called to verify they had my correct one) So $1700 of my loan money is floating out there somewhere and I really needed it :(. Don't know how they are going to fix it yet either. As in any program 2 of my professors are great 1 is a complete dud but what can you do...3 weeks and it will be done.

Slogging through math 114, 4 tests to finish, then I'm done! I've been an RN for 35 years, and I've never had anything to do with math besides calculating drop rates for IVs and drug doses. What do line graphs have to do with nursing?
