I am starting online RN-BSN via Chamberlain College of Nursing from July. Just wondering if any nurses out there who will be starting the program or in the program>
Any suggestion/idea is appreciated as it will be my first online program...........
Thank you!!!!
Yeah, the nursing courses add up to 24 credits. I'd never had Econ or an upper-level Sociology, so I had to take both of those. That left me 2 credits short, and the only two-credit general ed course is a computer class, so I took that -- it was pretty easy for me, given my former computer-related career combined with nearly 30 years of being a computer geek.
I finished up my RN-to-BSN at Chamberlain in October 2008. I think it was a great school, with mostly great professors, and the material I learned was very valuable. I hated (HATED) the step-by-step research process they taught. It was agonizing and the most boring stuff I have ever learned. The interesting part is that it is the most useful info I learned. I seem to have learned research skills that my colleagues just do not have, even the BSN-prepared RNs. They have been coming to me to research best practices and professional standards ever since (even my boss relies on me for this and to help her revise P&Ps). Boring, but extremely necessary, IMO. The one thing that I really had a hard time with is their requirement for discussion posts by particular days of the week (Wednesday for me). I worked Monday-Thursday, 12-16 hours a day, and it was nearly impossible to read the required material and dig for answers to discussion topics when I was working those days of the week. I just didn't think that should be required in a distance learning program. Give me 7 days to do what needs to be done, and I'll get it done, ya know? Do they still require posts by Wednesday? I always listed that complaint on my end-of-semester evaluation. Best of luck to y'all out there. Chamberlain has a spiffy looking BSN pin, too, when you get finished.
I did not actually participate in the graduation ceremony, but I did go to the pinning. I received my diploma via certified mail.
is the upper level sociology requirement specific to nursing or is it just a upper level..i have a bachelors in soc so i have oodles of upper level credits... the only class i don't have is economics and i just cant think of anything worse to take....so if you have all classes done is it possible to finish sooner than 3 semesters????
