Have you checked the online library? Or medline? I took that course in Sept 2008--the first one I took at Chamberlain. I, too, wrote about Miller's Power Resources. For the life of me, I can't remember what I did about that paper--hold on, I've got a copy here--I found it, let's all hear it for packrats and large hard drives. Here's the book I used:

Miller, J.F., RN, PhD., & FAAN. (2000). Coping with Chronic Illness: Overcoming Powerlessness (3rd ed., pp. 5-15). Philadelphia: F.A. Davis Company.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. There is HOPE!! Did you just find this at a library then? Chamberlain has it but driving two hours to columbus to get it definitely isn't ideal. Any suggestions on where to get it? Thanks all of your help already!

Did you check the Chamberlain on line library? I think that's where I found it. There's a way to contact the on line librarian if you're having trouble finding the book. When is the paper due? Since it's the weekend, I'm not sure if the librarians are around.

I haven't been able to find it on the online library. The paper isn't due for another two weeks, so I'm good. I wanted to get the rough draft in by Tuesday, but not a big deal if it doesn't get done. They have online help tomorrow morning, I'll try and make that for additional help. Thanks so much!

This morning, I was clearing out my old (back to when I started in 2008) emails from Chamberlain. I found a .pdf file of several pages from Miller's book. I can email them to you if you want.

Hi all. I am interested in the RN-BSN at Chamberlain and I contacted the adviser. I mean I AM interested and want to start but he/she is soooo pushy!!! She/He keeps calling me telling me I need put in my transcript requests, financial aid stuff immediately otherwise they will think am not ready. I know they get paid for recruiting more people, and the program sounds fantastic (except for the price), but they are really making me question if that's where I want to go. I do not like a sales person calling me several times a day to make sure am still interested and implying that if I dont do something NOW!!! I will not get help.

Sorry,,,just wanted to vent.

now back to filling out those transcript request forms and FAFSA.

Does anyone know when the next session starts and if its possible to get into that session if you starting from scratch now?

The next session starts on 7/5/10. I'd say you might be able to get everything ready by then, if your transcripts are readily available. Good luck! I started the program in Sept 2008. I only take 1 course at a time. Getting ready to graduate Oct. 2010.

Thanks Susan. I hope to have them in by end of week.

I know exactly how you feel. I had the same experience with an over-zealous advisor and that is why I have put off enrolling with them. I am leaning more toward the in-class route at a local university. I took my critical care course online and I didn't do as well as I think I should have.

Oh, that would be awesome!!! I'll see if I can figure out how to send you a private message or something with my email address. Thank you SOOOO much!

You're welcome! You can send me a private message with your email and I'll send it as a .pdf attachment. Since it's Saturday, I'm in and out of the house doing errands. I'll leave the computer on, so I'll know as soon as you send the PM.

Four weeks down, four weeks to go!! I'm getting pretty excited! I'm working on my design for change piece of the Capstone this week and then just a summary, power-point and peer-review to go!! I hope everyone else is doing OK this semester. I'm glad I didn't take this class with economics. It just would of been too much with homeschooling my kids and family stuff. It has been totally doable by itself and I'm really enjoying the Capstone project.
