i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
When I was finishing up my BS I needed one class at BHC. I applied for admission but their computer had some sort of a glitch and kept spitting my application back - only it wasnt telling anyone. When I finally figured out what was going on, after about 8 phone calls and going round and round, I got some vapid little secratary on the phone who told me "well I guess you dont want to go to college very bad or you'd come down here and fix it". Among other little snippy sentiments before she hung up on me.
I finally got ahold of someone who actually cared and got the admissions thing fixed but by then the online class I wanted was full.
I sent an email to the Chancellor right then and there outlining the entire situation complete with names. At 6 pm I get a phone call from his administrative assistant at home, they managed to fix the entire mess. On the spot - and miss snippy was reprimanded severely I was told.
So yes - it does pay to complain if you can outline details and names.

Cool, you have extra clinicals just before the semester starts. Very smart. :)
I found some great deals on books this weekend. Memory Notebook vol2 for $10 at Half Price. (I couldn't believe my eyes. Why would somebody sell it?) Pocket sized lab & diagnostic book for $20 from B&N. And I also ordered online a pocket sized spanish for health care workers book that has OB/L&D parts (Amazon 4 for 3 sale). Here I come Parkland. :roll
I am still thinking about buying a small peds/OB book for clinicals. There are some out there but I don't know which one is the best. I have seen a small spiral bound one that looks like the general one we got from the first semester book pac. Most bookstores carry that small OB/peds book. I wonder if that has enough info for clincals...

Jaxia,
Sorry about the rude Fin. Aid guy. I am not near 99 hours, but I am curious...what happens at 99 hours?
P.S. Glad you had a good birthday / vacation. It sure did sound nice.

Hey, has anyone had to deal with the fin aid people at EC? I went in there last week, and explained I was nearing the 99 hour cap. The guy told me that there wasn't anything he could do for me. I said, "so what are my options?" and get this: he laughed at me and said, "Are you seriously asking me that?" I said, "yes" He said, "You aren't really asking me that." Me: "Yes, I am. Isn't this the fin aid dept that helps students find ideas to pay for school?"I was sooo frustrated with him. I'm not even IN yet, and already having to deal with frustrating people.
