Hey, has anyone had to deal with the fin aid people at EC? I went in there last week, and explained I was nearing the 99 hour cap. The guy told me that there wasn't anything he could do for me. I said, "so what are my options?" and get this: he laughed at me and said, "Are you seriously asking me that?" I said, "yes" He said, "You aren't really asking me that." Me: "Yes, I am. Isn't this the fin aid dept that helps students find ideas to pay for school?"

I was sooo frustrated with him. I'm not even IN yet, and already having to deal with frustrating people.

Specializes in Operating Room.
Is this the one week clinical at Parkland?

The thing that most scares me about 2nd semester is the last skills check off. It is when you have only one chance to do it or you fail the whole semester, isn't it? :uhoh3:

Katie

That scares me.....We have a family trip to Florida planned for Christmas. Looks like I'll be doing some major studying while waiting in lines. :uhoh3:

Feel lucky you have a summer break in between. Ouch..... I'm feeling the pain already.

That is one of my MAIN beefs with El Centro. Some of the people are very nice and helpful and some are downright SCARY!

I don't want to be spoonf ed or have my hand held, but I sure don't want to be treated rudely or dismissed.:lol2:

Specializes in Postpartum/Nursery.
Brianna, do you always have clinicals at the hospital where you work?

Katie

I don't work at the hospital yet... but we don't get to choose our hospital.

Brianna,

How is it going at Arlington Memorial? Are you liking your hours? What about the pharm class? I'm sure you're super busy!!!

Pharm is going great... it's alot of chemistry though... Hopefully it will help me with the pharm test!!!

They are AWFUL! I have broken out into tears in there. They should all be canned. They have no personal skills whatsoever...

Allison,

Maybe I missed something - are you taking a summer clinical or are you in the pilot program? Did the other students say why 2nd semester was the hardest?

Amy

Amy,

I am taking a Continuing Education summer clinical. It's completely optional but I wanted to take because I felt I didn't get to do too much in my Spring clinical. I will definitely let everyone know if it was worth the $195!

They said it was the hardest because there is just so much due at the same time. They said I will be praying to be in 1st semester again...there was a girl there who was repeating 2nd semester and she said there were a pretty good size of repeaters we would be with at El Centro......AAAHHHHH! I'm going to try not to think about that BUT I know I will lol

Did you guys see we already have access to 2nd semester stuff on eCampus?! It's awesome! They have Tegrity presentations, chapters covered in each unit, recommended books for success, and SO MUCH MORE! I was so excited to see that we can already look at this stuff. :D

Where? What? Who? Me? ;)

I don't see any new thing on my eCampus. I have a bunch of second semester seminars and videos under first semester lecture (always been there). And there is nobody recommending any books for my success. :jester:

Edit: should learn English first :)
