I would love to go to San Antonio/Sea World. :)

Katie

I love San Antonio. It's such a fun city and there is so much to see from Sea World to the Missions. There's so much culture there...it's where my husband and I got married so maybe I'm a little partial to it :)

GOOD LUCK ON TEST 4!

Does anyone know the cut off GPA and # of support class hours for those that got accepted at NL and EC for Fall 2006? Thanks in advance.

The lowest GPA was 3.77 for both NLC and ECC with 13 credits completed at both campuses. ECC had a support course GPA of 4.0 and NLC's support course GPA was 3.77.

217 people applied, but I'm not sure how many were accepted. I'm sure around 100 again.

Hope this helps, if not, here's part of the actual letter:

HI Amy,

i just got accepted and this is what they told us:

ELC: prereq 3.77 GPA, with 13 hours of supportc. at 4.OO GPA

NLC: prereq 3.77 GPA, with 13 hours of supportc. at 3.77 GPA

I got in with prereq 4.0 and 3 hours of supportc at 4.0

I heard it varies all the time, so don't give up.

I have another question for you guys, i have signed up for the pilot programm in the summer which supposed to let me do clinicals earlier, and i was told :

Students will be required to purchase an HPRS 1204 packet of supplies from

the El Centro bookstore and provide other basic supplies (including but not

limited to stethoscope, digital thermometer/covers, and wristwatch with a second

hand).

This course supposed to be in place of RNSG 1119 - Nursingskills. So my question is: did you all purchase all these supplies in the bookstore and what exactly are these? Is there maybe some place elsewhere, where you could buy these things for maybe a better price? Do you all have any suggestions?

Fun2care,

Thank you so much. I am very surprised. I figured after what things were like for the people that got accepted for Sping 2006 that things would get worse, not better, but I was wrong. I will be applying this summer for Spring 2007 with 4.0 on prereqs. and 4.0 on 13 support credits completed so if nothing changes, things look promising. I was feeling kind of discouraged because my A&P prof. said "well, most people don't get in the first time they apply" - I could have died when she told me that - I have worked too hard not to get in. Fun, I am SURE you feel my pain on this one! I am also surpised to see so few people (217 people) applying. I was under the impression that many, many more people were applying each semester - maybe they realized that you really need to have your act together to get in.

I also want to say CONGRATULATIONS Fun! What was your first reaction when you found out you were getting in? I know I am going to cry....I am just so passionate about a career in nursing!

Hi Mysterious_one,

Thank you so much! Where will you be attending this fall? My first choice is NL for Spring 2007 but will certainly take EC is that's all I can get! Congratulations on getting in and the best of luck to you!

You never know what it will be. You have 13 credits now? Will you not have your Micro or A&P 2 before applying, or are you taking the summer off?

Either way, you have a really good chance. I hope you do get in for Spring '07!!

I bought the skills pack from the bookstore for my skills lab. It had everything that we used so I didn't have to go to different stores to buy additional items. But there were no watch and stethoscope in the pack. It had thermo covers, dressings, alcohol swabs, sterile gloves, clean gloves, foley kit, straight cath. kit, and tape. I bought my steth with penlight, scissors and visavis pen from the student nurse association. And I use my own watch.

What hospital will you go for clinicals?

Katie

I am currently in A&P 2 and Art Appreciation (humanities elective) and I am 99% sure that I will end this semester with A's in both. All I will like when I apply this summer will be Micro. I work 45-50 hours per week so taking Micro. in the summer is NOT an option for me (I don't want to mess up GPA). Considering the stats of who got in for the last few semesters I think I have a pretty darn good chance of getting in for Spring 2007. I am keeping my fingers crossed until the middle of October.

I think you have a really great chance!!

There's no way I could have worked so many hours and made those grades!!!!! Congrats!

(I can TOTALLY understand about not wanting to take MicroSUX in Maymester or the summer. It bit.) :D
