i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
I am so happy. First semester is almost over. :)
Katie
Me too! That's why I just had to add the countdown to the last day. I cannot believe it's almost over! I talked to a friend of mine in second semester and she said she did just fine without having a patho or pharm class. I trust her judgment so I don't think I am going to take those classes this summer. I can't make it to Arlington everyday!
A lady I work with just booked a 7 day cruise starting May 14th and she said, " Do you know how it feels to need a vacation so badly?" I told her she was asking the WRONG person. How could I NOT know how that feels! :rotfl: I think all of us know how that feels.
Is anyone going on summer vacation? I am going to Chicago at the end of June which I am really excited about!
Do you all have an extern job for this summer? I don't have any. There is an opportunity for ortho-med-surg at my hospital, but I am not interested. I would like to go to the operating room. :) I am thinking about volunteering there, if they don't have an opening for externs. We have our last check off today (dressing change) and test 4. tomorrow. Can't wait.

Katie
How was your check-off?
I don't know how to look for a job obviously because no one responds to me. I don't know what else to do besides get in their face about it...
when you say you have to pass all Rn skills first, before you can do them in the clinicals, what do you mean. Isn't that what you would do in this first class that they offer us earlier. Why else would they want us to start clinicals in second week of fall semester, if weren't ready for it. Also our plan only shows 3 days a week , compared to the none pilot group , who has to go 4 days a week.
:balloons: YAY KATIE!!!!! :balloons:I got back my major careplan yesterday and I got a 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was about to fall out of my chair when I opened it up...I seriously was beginning to feel light-headed.

We are done at the hospitals as of yesterday! We got a cake and cards for the nurses and staff who helped us sooo much and gave it to them yesterday. We think we are going to give our teacher flowers and a card...
Mysterious_One: First-CONGRATULATIONS on getting accepted! The hardest part is over
I agree with what Katie said about the pilot program thing because I don't see how they would allow you to do actual skills in the hospital without checking off on them first? There may be something there that I don't know about though. If it can get you in and out of clinicals faster then I would do it because you need your full attention for test 3 &4, in my opinion.
faceinbooks, thanks, I would have thought that the purpose of this early sommercourse is to get you checked offf earlier, so that you can start on the clinicals. The other ones have one more day in the week of lecture and skilllab , then the pilotgroup would have. I am not sure about the advantages, maybe i need to go to El Centro to talk to someone in person, thought you guys might know
We can sign up to take our tests anytime and I just want to get it over with. I'm glad it's over!! I got a 90 on test 4 which is okay and I'll deal with that grade and be fine with it....it puts me out of getting an A in the class unless I make like a 100 on the next 2 exams lol which is nearly impossible...that stupid test 2!!!!! At this point I am jumping up and down for a B!Good luck to the rest of you about to take test 4!!!
Congrats!!!! I know many people that would kill to have a B average....
I take test 4 on Friday... I think it's going to be pretty tough.

I just wanted to say that I haven't been on here in a little while.... and it's nice to see that we are all progressing very well!!!
It's getting down to the wire, and I'm trying to hold on! I'm taking test 4 on friday, test 5 on 5/5, and my final is on 5/8! Tomorrow is my last day of clinicals.... YAY!!! We've got a cake and cards for each floor that we've worked on. Everyone also chipped in $5 to get my clinical instuctor a gift certificate to Starbucks. I have clinical evaluations next week. Do y'all have that at ECC/NL?
And last but not least.... CONGRATS to the new nursing students!!!
