Katie and Brianna that's a great idea! I know I will be easy to find because I will be serving the punch and cake with two other girls from my clinical group. I KNOW everyone will come to the cake and punch table!!!! :rotfl:

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.

Punch and cake. Wow. I think I will sit close to that table. :)

Specializes in Operating Room.

I hope your lecture isn't on educating the patient on healthy eating habits. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You all sound like you're enjoying yourself...I hope it stays that way!! :)

Specializes in Postpartum/Nursery.

I didn't even know that there would be refreshments! Honestly... we weren't told anything other than to be there. Are we supposed to wear our uniforms, or business casual? Also, where do you think is a good place to park? Everytime I go to Dallas, I get lost or can never find parking! A classmate of mine took the DART and had to wait an hour... and on top of that, watch homeless people make-out!!

These are the things I don't like about going to El Centro. I always have to take the DART because of parking issues and I always have to watch strangers doing strange things on the street or on the train.

By the way, nobody told us to wear uniforms so I will be casual.

As far as I know, it's casual wear. My clinical instructor is the one who put it together and she didn't mention anything about a certain dress.

It's so funny to hear people outside of downtown talk about the weird people around here hehe. I live, work, and go to school down here and I guess I have just gotten used to them  I would say driving would be the best bet because the rail isn't always reliable. The traffic won't be too pretty around 4:30 so allot time for that if you have anywhere to go right after. There is parking all around the school though.....that would be frustrating for y'all to have to deal with... I wish we could go to NL, it's such a beautiful campus....

So, the seminar is going to be about surviving nursing school, getting scholarships etc on Monday, isn't it? I am looking forward to see you all there at the cake and punch table. :rotfl:

Hi guus!

How is everything going at El Centro?

I have not been able to post in forever 'cause I've been so sick. I had to give up my spot this Spring because of it.

Katie, Funnie what's new?

Specializes in Operating Room.

Dang, sunnyjohn, I'm so sorry. :crying2: I hope you get better really soon.

.....Nothing new....same ol' stuff. Other than being ill, what's new with yourself? Are you taking any classes this semester?

I am sorry.

I hope you are doing well now.

School is overwhelming this semester (for me).

Right now we are practicing taking vital signs and learing about assessment, too. The VS check off is in two weeks, the assessment is in three weeks. We are also getting ready to take the first lecture test. I think the hardest part is to be organized every day. There are always extra handouts, articles and chapters to read (and deadlines, videos, lab stuff). I can't imagine how my working classmates can manage school. On the other hand our instructors are great. They are supportive and there are extra resources avaiable online, too. :)

Funnie, how are your classes going this semester?

Your classes seem interesting! At least they're not boring. LOL

Mine are a little boring....History 1302 & Nutrition. The History class is an accelerated class, but the Nutrition is full semester. ...I'm already ready to take the 1st test, which isn't due until Feb. 13th, I think.

I'm used to the fast-paced, gotta get it done mode.

I am sorry to hear that Sunny. Are you feeling better now?

Our VS check-off is on the 1st and our lecture test will be on the 6th. I can't believe how much reading there is. I am a little overwhelmed though about the assessment check off. There are tons that we have to do.
