I took the keys to success class late in the game. I had to be readmitted back into the third semester and took it as a requirement to get back in. It was a really good class for the new class coming in. I wish they would have required it at the beginning of the program. It helps you learn how to take notes and read through the material.....it also helps a little with how to read a nursing question, etc, etc.

That's good to hear. I was afraid it would be a waste of time.

Has anyone heard any news on when our book packs would be coming in???

Hopefully we will hear something about it tomorrow when the college opens back up. Every single time they gave me a date the publisher was having problems.

I think your GPA is awesome and you have a great chance at getting in! The competition changes each semester...this semester was especially tough : 4.0 pre-reqs. and 9 hours supports completed with a 4.0 at El Centro...and 4.0 pre-reqs. and 6 hours supports completed with a 2.5 at Northlake.

I start El Centro in the Spring '06 and I have everything completed so I think that was a big advantage for me. I am glad it's over!!

Have you signed up for Micro and AP II? Where are you taking them at??? I don't think I could do both in one semester and I look up to you for tackling that. I am always here to help with Micro or AP II and I am sure everyone else here would be more than willing to help you. :)

Please keep us updated!! You should check out the DCCCD '06 thread in the pre-nursing student. There are some people in there applying for Fall '06.

Hi Face!

Sorry I have been out and about and not good about replying lately. Thanks for your words of confidence! I have begun the application process - can you say SHOTS!! :chair: Next is the NET test - any words of wisdom from any of you on that one??? I have the study guide but would any of you recommend taking the "class" at El Centro?

I am taking A&P II and Micro next semester and I am very excited. I guess I'm weird because I like this school thing - been a SAHM for too long I guess!! Trying to get my Micro book online through ebay or Amazon.

Good luck to all of you! I love to read everyones posts and hear the excitement in your voices! Hopefully I'll be in your shoes in Fall 06!:nurse:

Hey you guys our book packs are in! I just picked mine up and it was HEAVY. I had to carry it all the way back to work which is about two blocks away and that was horrible!

I don't know if they'll tell you when you pick it up but when I would open the box before I got all the way home. Some boxes are missing some books but there are vouchers inside to turn in for the missing books (which they have in stock). So I would check before you get all the way home...

The Davis Drug Guide isn't included in the book pack so you have to buy it separately. Everything else was there though except for those few that you have to get on-line or something....those first 4 or so on the list....

Hey sweetie! I am so excited for you going through the application process!! It's nerve-wrecking!!!

I can't believe you're going to tackle both of those classes at the same time. I admire you for that! I wish I still had my micro book but I stupidely sold it.....

I thought the NET test was pretty easy....alot easier than they make it out to be. I was fine with just the study guide and I even felt that was a waste of my money. I think it all depends how strong you feel mostly in the math department....

Please keep us updated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

And, yes, there are ALOT of shots! haha

Ugh I was just up there today and even went in the bookstore but didn't bother looking for the books.

I haven't ordered my books, yet. I want to go back to Dallas first.

Anyway, have you all started taking the learning strategy and drug calculation classes? How are you doing?

Katie

Just yesterday, Friday, I took the math drug calculation class along with faceinbooks. I was going in there really nervous but the professor teaches you everything that is on the test. You take a test at the end of class and if you pass it than you don't have to worry about taking it for the rest of the semester. I did learn a few things in there that will help.

Today, Saturday, we started the Keys to Success class and next class we have an article that is due that we need to summarize and other stuff. It was pretty interesting and learning some things. After awhile though I was getting really tired and ready to go home.

Are you taking these classes?

I am taking the math drug calculation on Jan 14th, and I was wondering if it is really worth it? I friend of mine didn't take the class and had to take the test twice b/c she missed 3 questions and you can only miss 2. I thought about taking the keys for success class, but I really don't have time to this semester. Please let me know how that goes for you!!
