i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Yes the questions were detailed and you really had to know this stuff inside and out. I think a lot of people just played over spring break and didn't put the effort into it. There was one group who had their major due just yesterday! What a cruel instructor!! Our major was due before spring break so I am thankful it's over.

Yes- medspub and nclex are way too easy compared to what we have to know. You can study it if you want because you never know what's going to be on her test...it just didn't help us. I read everything and I went into it feeling pretty prepared.

We lost quite a few people with the 70/70 rule today and she did say we may get a couple of points but it won't be significant. She was honestly shocked at the poor scores. There were a few people who said they studied alot and didn't get a passing score so I don't know what they studied.

OH yeah and breath sounds was important. ..on our test at least.

Oh yeah GET THIS- my instructor is offering a chance for the people who failed so miserably a RETEST!!!!!!!!! :angryfire I don't think it's fair but oh well right? These people got the review of the test we took and then they get to retest probably over the same material so they'll already know what to study...it's just so unfair....I could retest too but I think I'll keep my A!

OMG!!!! Those people better be thanking Jesus, because I know my instructor wouldn't do that for us!!!! :o I cannot believe that.... I wonder if it's going to be the same test?!?!?!? It can't be.. that's just too easy... I bet the students complained to the higher-ups and they had to do something about it. I wonder why they just didn't give points? I guess they couldn't because there weren't 2 answers to accept! I wouldn't retest if I were you... you did great!!!

I am almost positive that they complained to someone. I think it's ridiculous. They're blaming it on having to retake pharm so that's what they had to study for all spring break...um .. hello people...I retook pharm too but I managed to multi-task. I wish I could have blown off all spring break and received not only 2 more weeks to study but a second chance. I'm sure it's not the same test but I'm sure it will be the same basic ideas....just makes me so mad. I haaaaaate this school.

I think she should offer a 10-point quiz to give in class and those points we earned could be added to our final test grade. I think that's the most fair that way these people who made in the 50s and 60s and can only make max amount of grade...I just don't think it's fair they get to go for the full 100 points again....I told my instructor all of this and she seemed quite offended with me even questioning others getting a second chance! ERRRR!

It's an individual decision to retest and I am most certainly NOT retesting...I've gotta study for cardiac! EEK!

You guys will do GREAT today!!! I am off to clinical! :monkeydance:

very interesting to know for us future students that someone at EL C. retested. Who is your instructor? We sec. sem. at El C., had a bad first test and our instructor gave everyone a quiz of 5 questions to be able to pull up the grad by 10 points. I didn't need it , and I don't know if it actually helped those that really did, but I think that seems better than to retake the whole test. Maybe they finally getting the drift that their tests are really to hard and unfair.

I can understand your frustration, but just put yourself in those people's shoes.

Had you not been blessed with the ability to make a great grade, you'd would most appreciate a second chance.

You should be happy for these people...it could have been you.

Think of it this way.....They are studying for a retake. You get to concentrate on the next test! You have an advantage! :)

On the other hand..... IV Therapy question: If the gtts/min is 19, can we round that to 20 gtts/min? I saw that in a video, but Ms. A didn't ever mention that during our skills lab.

MIchelle,

I don't think you can round that up, but if you are worried about counting that for the check off. Remember you can be off +/- 5, (well actually she crossed it out to 4 on the paper). Good luck

I am with you Allison, this is ridiculous. :uhoh3: I have never heard about this before. When I failed one of tests 1st semester nobody let me retest again. We didn't even had 10 point quizzes. Sorry, we should do this by the same rules. We are all ECC students after all. Everybody should get a second chance or nobody does.

I also agree because I failed the first test for second semester, and I didn't get a retest or a quiz even though I complained to the higher-ups!!!! I just had to suck it up and study even harder for the remaining tests.... Maybe I'm just a little bitter... but it's really not fair.

I made 88 and I am happy. I thought the test would be harder. Good luck Bree, :balloons:
