i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
Brie2200, Yes there will be plenty of time to order scrubs. Clinical doesnt start until mid to late Feb. so you have plenty of time. I havent taken nclex yet as our Hesi test is not until 12-16-05, the exit exam for the program. I did do clinicals 1 and 2 semester @ HEB, wich is not option for first semester any more. I did my 3rd semester clinicals @ HMSW, and this past semester i was @ HFW in the ER. It is a good program and you will learn alot, just be prepared to study most of the people in my class were 4.0 students when they started and have earned a few b's and c's since starting. Take a deep breath and enjoy your time off, you will miss it shortly but itis worth it. Later Heath
Thanks so much for the vital info!! How many days a week were your clincals and approx how much time did you spend at the hospital? Nan told me that the clincal time and locations change each semester. I really want to be at AMH for my clinicals!! Luckily I only work 20 hr a week, but I must be there for my shift. Was your manager supportive? So far, my manager has been working around my schedule really well, but I don't want to push my luck! Are there any breaks in the program? My husband and I are planning to go on a cruise next march for spring break if at all possible. I thought the HESI was an entrance exam for Northlake?

Clinicals are one day a week, 630a-300pm. You also get the normal school breaks, so cruise away. Hesi has 2 different tests one for entrance and one for exit, it is used as a nclex predictor test. As far as my manager goes she was great, I worked 4 twelves a week my first 3 semesters. Overtime every week makes for good check!!! I used LINC for last semester just becuase of the increase in clinicals. Good luck Heath

So the clincals are separate from the lecture time? I'm just confused... there was a paper in my packet that said site preference, and it had presby and harris on different days from 6:15am to 3:30. Is that for clinicals or lecture? When are lectures? I work in the CBO West so we have regular office hours and I have to be there at least 3 days a week from 4-8. Hopefully this won't interfere and if it does I hope my manager will work with me. What is LINC? I have an appointment with Joan tomorrow to turn in my application, so I'm getting closer!! Nan said that they will mail out letters on the 21st, so hopefully if the post office is on time, I will get my letter before Christmas. Nan told me that so far from the 1st deadline, they might have 10 people. Do you know anyone else that is applying? Good luck with the HESI!*Brianna
Brie, do you have to work for them in order to apply?
Are they still accepting applications? If not, when is the next deadline? How many people do they accept each semester?
What is the criteria? (I have completed all of my pre-reqs (3.77) and support classes (4.0) required by El Centro.)
Thanks. :)

You do have have to work or be a dependent of someone who works for Texas Health Resources. It's pretty much like El Centro's program. They accept applications for the Spring and Fall Classes. I believe the fall deadline is May 20th. You must have all prereq's completed plus A&P II and Micro. I have heard through hear-say that if they don't have enough employees, they take those who didn't get in to El Centro. I hope that helps!
Oh sure 78-82 is a C83-89 is a B
90-100 is a A
I also have access to those pharm packets if anyone needs them! I have a CD with the MCP on it also.
What pharm packets? I'm interested in seeing anything that anyone will share.
I can't wait until my nursing magazines come in either. I'm so eager!

I have a question for those who had skills lab at EC or NL. Do you have to wear the "official scrubs" with school logo or you can buy cheaper scrubs and use those during skills lab?
