She is monitoring everything this semester! I can honestly say, that she appears to have had a change of heart this semester

She also told us that as of April 2007, NCLEX is changing it's testing style, so don't buy any NCLEX books for awhile because they will be outdated.

She also said that she is making her own tests and that we can be tested from ANYWHERE, but all of the rationals will come from Lewis.

I am soooooooooo looking forward to this semester.

I heard that Ms. B. likes to monitor what students do on medspub, too.

I thought that all THR, ECC, NLC have the same test questions, usually. Anyway, I guess the best thing to do is to read both Iggy and Lewis.

About NCLEX, there are already books out there with new type of questions. Like, when you have to point out things on a picture or when you have to assess a FHT strip, etc. I also heard that they will put more questions about herb-food-drug interactions.

I heard respiratory was the hardest also. There are a few people who didn't pass from NL who have now transferred to EC and they said that the resp. test is the most difficult and KNOW LAB VALUES (resp/met acidosis/alkalosis stuff) because that's what most people missed. They said Cardiac was pretty difficult also. There is one girl in our class who failed at EC sem3 last time with a 77.2!!!!!!!!

So, I was talking to my clinical classmate today about these things. Why people say that this semester is soooooooooo hard? When we were about to start 2nd semester these people (NLC) told us that 2nd semester is the hardest and so many of them failed. Now they say that 3rd semester is soooooooo hard and many of them failed. I LOVED 2nd semester L&D and newborn lecture. And I made a high B. By the way, my classmate thinks that those who failed must have had issues with time management and study skills.

I had my first clinical today. We did orientation, lunch together, hunting on the floor. It looks like this semester is going to be about skills. Last semester was more observing for me. Oh, can you guess who is my clinical instructor? The lady who I met at Parkland last semester. She was the one in uniform that we thought was a 4th semester student. She started teaching last semester and she seems like a very nice person. She said that we start with 1 pt and we go up to 4. We all will be on one floor that has 4 different nursing stations so we can rotate. They have mixed med-surg and onco pts. And we have IV skills lab on Monday with check off. And I thought we wouldn't have any check offs anymore. :clown:

I have just checked eCampus. It says that they put an updated drug list for 3rd semester online today. I am not sure how much this is updated but here it is:

Wow- Brie. That sounds like an interesting 1st day! We didn't get hardly any of that information yesterday! The only thing our teacher told us was this would be the last semester they would use Lewis although Iggy is listed on our books in the syllabus but what was I thinking going by that?! :lol2: You would think I would have learned my lesson! Luckily I bought a Lewis book from a friend of mine because I had already sold mine!!! ARGH!

I would be so mad and she is really bitter....she says you don't get a good ceremony when you graduate in December like you would if you graduate in May and that's what she is most upset about.....She had my same lecturer last semester....

The repeaters in my class said that cardiac was actually easy.... hmm??

I would be pretty bitter too with a 77.2!!! She is correct about the graduation thing... I heard that ECC doesn't do anything at all and that you can attend the spring graduation class. THR told us that they will have a pinning ceremony for us and that's about it. I think our class is planning something separate like a reception dinner...

I wish all the lectures were recorded & uploaded like that! It's not that expensive for the nursing dept to purchase lapel mikes, etc for the lecture instructors.

Hmmmm....So you are given a list of meds as if you were going to get a pharm exam, but you won't?

I can understand "tests" being from anywhere, but the information to back up the answer should be from your books.

I hope she uses only IGGY next semester! ha

She said that you would be responsible for the pharm that's in the syllabus... They really don't know for sure how they will do it.

Last semester, she really monitored meds pub! She said that this time, it's mandatory and you have to bring a printout showing that you finished the assignments to class on test day to be able to test! Without it, you have to sign a contract and take a whole different test, etc.

I'm not going to read Iggy because she stressed Lewis in class and if you have any challenges, you would have to prove it from that book. My friend read Iggy and did terrible on her test.... she switched to Lewis and did better.

Does Ms. B = Branscome? Just curious...

Argh! A 77.2? That would be so hard.

I'm not a member, but I would like to come and join... mainly for the pharm review! Is that possible??

-Brianna

Of course, you can come to every meeting even if you are not a member. Although, being a member saves you money on the pharm review as well as the various discounts offered on-line, etc.

Are you 3rd semester or 2nd? Right now, we don't have an instructor willing to do a 3rd semester pharm review but we received a few names today & hope to have a review date set up soon. I'll let ya'll know as soon as we get a date set.
