i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
is this your first semester? if so, be sure to check out the spring '07 thread :)
We were just told that our clinical group starts this TuesdayWe have a 2 hour orientation and then we immediately start on the floor! ACK! I'm nervous! I was looking forward to another week as we were told we wouldn't have clinicals the first week....but maybe this means we will end sooner!
How was your first day?

How was your first day?Katie
It went well. We are actually not starting on the floor until tomorrow. We just kind of got to know the instructor who seems really nice, by the way. We have a girl who is repeating 3rd from NL and she said that lecture instructor is not good and that a lot of people failed. I know you know who I am talking about, Katie (the lecture teacher in 3rd semester at NL). I hope you have a good semester with her and just know we'll all get through it together!!!!! I really like PHD and the nurses seemed wonderful. I hope this is a good semester although I am a little worried about the instructor as I heard you'll think she's not bad at first but your opinion will change Everyone is different so I try not to go by what others say anyway. Thanks for asking Katie
I can't believe it's already starting. We don't get out until April 11th because we have quite a few weeks where we don't go 2 days...she even picked out our community service projects! That was really nice...probably all 3rd semester teachers do that though it seemed.....that's always the annoying part is picking out what community service you want to do....

So, first semester when we had our orientation at the hospital they gave us a couple of papers about the hospital. It was about PHD. I seriously started questioning them in my head. Why would they give us info on PHD studies when we are going for our associate degree?
:lol_hitti
PHD stands for Presby Hospital Dallas.
Anyway, I am sure you will like it. Do you park at the heart institute? Did they tell you about the robots going between buildings? (So you won't be surprised seeing them rolling next to you at 0600.)
Katie
The students say that certain instructor used two different books, the instructors say there were students who 'lacked integrity'.
Truth? I don't know. 3rd semester for you all. Don't worry about anyone else's opinions.
As I have posted on many a threads....."Stay dedicated, motivated, and determined!"

Congrats, Kathy! :balloons:
Like I said, no excuses, but I really feel Kanora is a victim of over worked, under paid!
They aren't open on Saturday and she was working...just like that 7 PM email I received from her. I made a lil' comment in my reply to her like "I hope you are emailing from home this late." She replied back with an answer to my main question, and a 'No, she's still at the office'.
I really think that between all the 2nd, 3rd, 4th semesters from NLC, ECC, THR, and Baylor (?), that right there is a huge amount of work. ....Then you have all the new students, repeats, etc to deal with.
There's really not that many people in that office.
I say this, and yes, I have had a bad experience there. However, it was from the receptionist at the time. ....I'm sure just a student working for financial aid who thought talking to her friend on the phone was more important than answering questions.
Overall....I'm glad you got it straightened out, Kathy. There's not any reason to need to take it, if you are currently teaching it. :)
