i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

I got an A in clinical and skills. So- 2 As and a B....just like last semester hahaha.

I'm hoping beyond hope that I get my 1st choice. Could one be so lucky?

Congrats on your grades. I am hoping for the same one. I have my final clinical evaluation on Wednesday at ECC.

You can be lucky! :jester:

I think I will put St.Paul as my 1st choice because the clinical instructor will be my former 2nd semester skills teacher. I liked her.

Ok, we figured out the confusion on our choices for sec. semester. They put 3 rotations after the pedi choice, instead of 2. NO wonder I was confused. Supposedly a typo, well figures, they are just so organized :chuckle .

I am hoping for Parkland with Pritchett as my first choice.

Have you guys noticed the differences in the test set ups for finals? Makes me wonder how fare this can be. Our pilot group here at ECC had 75 question for the final, the other group had 80, and Northlake only had 50. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair. Especially if someone going into the final needed a specific grade to pass, and it was a matter of a few points. Obviously when you have a test of 80 questions you can miss more questions to get a higher grade simply because the questions average out to be worth less in points. I don't understand how they justify the differences in these set ups for finals. Did you guys had anything like that going on in your first semester or now in your second semester?

By the way good luck on your Hesi ,what do you guys study for that?

Just reading this is making me scared to apply at El Centro. Basically what I'm taking away from this is if you make a B in any pre-req, you're screwed.

I think everybody had 100 questions on 2nd semester finals.

For Hesi, I will briefly review 2 semesters' lecture concentrating on my weakness. They said the syllabus should help us focus on the important parts. And as always, I have to do LOTS of questions on paper, on CD, online, wherever I can find them. :specs:

Mysterious....It's a catch-22. We could only miss 11 out of 50 to still pass with a 78, but y'all had more questions to get wrong (or right). So, I guess, it evens itself out. It is a little strange though.

lady_db_programmer....don't limit yourself to one school. Apply everywhere! :) Good luck to you!

Everywhere you go there will be something to whine about. :nuke: So, don't make it seem like ECC is so bad. It is a really good program, just hard to get into & hard to stay in. LOL!

Heh; I'll be taking pre-reqs my entire life, requirements vary even school to school in DCCCD let alone across the metroplex.

I'll probably never get in anywhere anyway so what's the point.

Personally, I'll take 100 questions any day. Knowing my luck, if there are only 20 questions, they'll ask me the ONE that I didn't know :) With 100 q's, even if they ask me that one, I still get to show I knew what I was doing ;)

The El Centro/NL program doesn't have that many pre-reqs. Just take your time and try to do your best! Good luck!

It does if the BA you did is absolutely no help whatsoever in meeting any of them, and you have to do them part-time. Seems like a mountain.

I didn't realize it was possible to get most any degree without Comp I, much less a BA! Comp I, Algebra, A&P I and Psych -- I don't think that's bad at all. I did it all in one semester. Going part time, it can easily be done in two.

Where there's a will, there's a way!

Where there's a will, there's a way!

And there are many classes that you can take online. I have taken some classes that way at DCCCD.

Good point -- TCC even offers A&P online (not sure about DCCCD). I took most of my classes online except for sciences.

Hi "Lady db". Don't get discouraged - where there is a will there is a way!! My kids were very small when I began this journey - I had to do one or two classes at a time and did every one of them online except A&P I, II and Micro - I saved those for last because all my kids were in school by that time!! I have another friend who was able to finish ALL prereqs in 1 year by going full-time. Just evaluate where you are in life and GO FOR IT - at whatever pace you can!!!

As for the final exam - I was one who had 80 questions! Believe me EVERYONE could argue their own side!!!!!! The 5 add'l questions we had were over the hardest areas - Fluids & Lytes!!! Lets go on and talk about class averages on that final - ours was a 78!! Put numbers to that and figure out how many people failed that final with 80 questions - trust me we got no extra benefits from those 5 "extra" questions!!!!!

That said - I do believe they need to make the program consistent for EVERYONE involved since they are considered the same; and especially since we cover the same exact material. Maybe these are some of the things they learned by having the pilot group this time!

Regardless, we are moving on to 2nd semester and that is what counts!!!!!!!
