El Centro/ Northlake Nursing Spring 2014

Published

Hello all! I'm new here and have not seen a post for El Centro spring 2014. I was originally planning to apply for fall 2014, however I just heard that the point system and prerequisites have been revised! Now I will be able to apply for this spring! I don't know if I will get in, but its worth a shot! Anyone else applying for spring 2014?

I too am trying to get into the program for Spring 2014..I took my Hesi 8/17 and got an overall 88.4...(Eng 90, Math 84, A/P 88)..my GPA for prereqs is 3.6 and my pts are at 26...Praying the good Lord wants this for me...so close I can smell it!! Hoping all the effort and sacrifices pays off. Wishing you all the best...ibwantnin2

Ibwantnin2- I'm in the same boat as you. I'm praying and leaving it in God's hands. I re-take my Hesi tomorrow. If my studying paid off, I'll have 30, otherwise 25 if I use my other Hesi results.

Does anyone know somewhere that's reasonable on titer tests or immunizations in general??

Has anyone applying to the program taken courses outside of TX or outside of DCCCD? Also, did you have the Education Plan completed? Or just evalulated when you turned in transcript to the admissions office at one of the campuses? I am applying to the program and I have some out of state courses. They are on my DCCCD transcript as the DCCCD course # but I did not have the Education Plan completed. I was not sure if this would be an issue.

Thanks!

@ BrittneyH you can always try the health department for the immunizations. The titers are a little pricey. For all of mine at my doctors office without insurance I paid close to $100.

@asmith27 I took courses in Corinth and Collin Colleges. I did not have the education plan and I did go off of my transcript for the required courses. If the courses are transferrable and on your transcript I doubt it will be an issue. Hope this helps!! I turned my application in yesterday after many prayers. Its in Gods hands now....LET HIS WILL BE DONE!

Thank you! I am only worried because my courses are coming from NC. but they transferred just fine into Northlake and are on my transcript for DCCCD. They have the same course #'s as the application packet states are required. The packet recommends an educational plan but I wasn't sure if that is necessary since they are on my DCCCD transcript.

asmith27- As long as those courses show up on your DCCCD transcript, you're fine. Now if they had never been transferred over then that would be when you would complete an educational plan. Good luck! :)

Thank you so much Aking21! I was stressing out about it!

Just took the Hesi today. This was my second attempt, and I did much better. I noticed that all the questions were pretty much the same as when I took it two week ago. It helps a lot to retake the exam sooner than later. I will have 28 points overall. How did everyone else do?

I also took the Hesi again today. My first attempt was three weeks ago and today I did much better as well (gained 3 points). It looks like I will have 29 points. There were quite a few of the same questions and reading comprehension was exactly the same.

Where did you guys take your HESI?? I thought el centro was done testing for the month so I'm just wondering where else had tests....

@ibwantnin2 Thank you! Also where can I get a physical done that isn't very expensive. Someone recommended Care Now but when I called the price wasn't 15 as I had been told.
