El Centro/ Northlake Nursing Spring 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello all! I'm new here and have not seen a post for El Centro spring 2014. I was originally planning to apply for fall 2014, however I just heard that the point system and prerequisites have been revised! Now I will be able to apply for this spring! I don't know if I will get in, but its worth a shot! Anyone else applying for spring 2014?

Yes, definitely send an email to the 5tests address. I'm scheduled for the 24th. Maybe I will check with El Centro regarding the date of the flu vaccine. I would assume if we make it to the interview phase and have our vaccine, we should be fine. Surely they realize that most offices don't receive them until late fall.

Willnlisa, don't assume anything about the flu vaccine because so many people are disqualified because of the vaccinations not being done by the time of application. If at all possible, I would try to get the vaccination. Best of luck to you!

Almost the deadline!!!

Im not sure how competitive that will be with the new point system. If anything, it seems that the pre req changes will make it even easier to apply but harder to be accepted :nailbiting:

How many points does everyone have?? After retaking my HESI, my max points will be 27.

@PD82 I completely agree with you. Ill also have 27 points with the new system and 27 out of 40 makes me really nervous. Good luck!

I emailed El Centro and this is the response I received regarding the flu vaccine: You may turn in your packet without the flu shot record. If chosen, you would need to update it then.

I am still going to try and have this completed before I send in my application, but thought I would pass this along.

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone could answer this question. When applying to the the program, will they only accept the most recent Hesi scores or are we able to submit previous ones (within the 2 yr limit)? I'm asking because I've already taken the hesi but am retaking it this Saturday to get a higher score, but if I don't do as well as planned I would just submit a previous one.

AKing21-the info packet says HESI scores are valid for 2 years, so as long as your old score is in that time frame you should be fine!

Im also retaking my HESI on Saturday!! I took it a couple weeks ago and I think I could do better. Every extra point will help! Good luck on your test!!

PD82- Thanks! Good luck to you too!!!!

Just be sure the personality/learning styles is on the most current HESI you submit. Last time I applied I forgot to take the learning styles/personality section on my first test so took it the 2nd time. I scored better on the first test so wanted to use those scores but turned in the 2nd test just for the learning/personality stuff - I crossed out all of the HESI scores from the 2nd test.

They still used my scores from the 2nd test because they stated that they will always use the scores from the most recent test submitted. They suggested I either take the learning styles/personality on a separate test or just take it each time I retest. I ended up just taking it on my retests.

Regarding the flu vaccination, I received the same information that they will not disqualify applicants for not having the flu shot since it won't be available - for the most part - prior to the application deadline. Can't believe it's almost here!

Totally bombed my second HESI attempt. I did awful on the first section so I just stopped right there since it already affected my overall score. The questions were harder and very different from when I first tested. It seemed like the HESI at el centro was easier than at the pro metric center. Anyway, just gonna turn in my first scores and cross my fingers! Not gonna stress anymore

My overall HESI score was 89.33

GPA 3.5

Total points 23

Good luck guys!!!

I sent in my application last week. I still need the flu shot, but no one had it so I emailed both Victoria Burson and Joan Becker, and they both said that it is just fine to turn in the application without it as long as I get it before the start of the classes in the Spring. :-)

I'm retaking my hesi and turning in my application on the deadline......i currently have 32 points with my previous Hesi score but I did bad. I made 6 points out of the 12 lol. Hopefully I do better

aisg- congrats on the 32 points right now. I'm hoping for 30points with a perfect score when I retake the Hesi. Best of luck to you.
