El Centro / NLC Fall 2019

Published

Hello,

I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone is applying for the Fall 2019 program at El Centro (hoping to get into the North Lake program). I'm getting ready to send my application and await the process. Just didn't see a thread yet and wanted to connect with my hopeful future Colleagues. I've read the Spring 2019 thread and it was exciting to see everyone come together during this process to share in this fantastic journey! I'm hoping to connect with anyone going through this experience with and hopefully also be in the program with me.

Should we expect correspondence by the end of April?

I applied last cycle and was accepted. No emails were sent, good old fashioned snail mail only.

Do you mind sharing us insight about the program so far? I'm mostly interested in your school schedule, do you mind sharing?

What classes are you all taking for the Spring 2019 semester as we apply for the Nursing program and await the response? I wish El Centro sent out the acceptance letters earlier in the month of April but I'm taking Pharmacology online at MVC online to keep myself busy and focused on Nursing in the meantime. I can already tell the online course is going to be a beast! If anyone hasn't already taken the HESI and needs to take it to apply for MVC by Feb. 22nd or for Spring 2020 at any of the schools, let me know. I have a pdf Study guide for A&P and a great Quizlet set that helped me study for it as a refresher. I would also suggest going to 1/2 price books to get the A & P book if you don't already own one so you can refer back.

Hello!!! can you please email the study guide to me! My email address is [email protected]

I must be trippin’! ? I honestly prefer that, I can check the mailbox once a day rather than obsessing over my email. Glad to hear I can just wait on a letter!

No worries! Yes, I signed up for Informed Delivery through UPS so I knew what mail I was coming home to each day. It was nice because by 10am each day I knew what whether or not I was getting any mail from El Centro!

Sure! I have 2 classes every Wedneday - this is my Lecture day. I am on campus from 7:30am-3pm. Thursday is Skills day - in skills lab from 7am-5pm, and Friday is clinical - at the clinical site from 6:30am-5pm. This semester we have 5 clinical days so we report the the facility we're assigned only those 5 Fridays that were put on our schedule/sent by our instructor.

And how do you like it so far? Is it everything you hoped it would be? Is it hard to stay on track with only 2 class dats out of the week?

I really like it! I like having 2 class days because I work 30 hours a week, and there are lots of assignments and reading assignments but if you stay organized it is absolutely doable.

30 hours? Wow! That’s incredible! Well I’m glad you’re enjoying the program! I can’t wait to hear something back from them! Keep working hard!

At the end of April! Which seems like forever from now!

Hey everyone! I’m applying next spring and made a post about a month ago but no one has responded in it yet so I’m wondering if I could get some questions answered since y’all have been through this process already.

1. What is the best a&p and vocab material for the hesi? I took the hesi last weekend and missed those sections by 2 questions. I took a&p like 8 years ago so I had to relearn the material in 3 weeks! I really want to pass the next time I take it.

2. How far out did you start getting your immunizations and where did you get them? They are pretty expensive!

3. Does anyone know when we can start registering for summer classes? I didn’t see them online yet and I want to get another class done before the application is due!

Thanks in advance!
