Edukan A&P2 summer session 3!!!

Published

I had been thinking about starting this thread all week and forgot about it. I guess the time has finally come! Class starts on Monday. I've been doing some of the ADAM labs to get ahead, but haven't done any of the "Beyond Adam" questions in the lab. I'm planning to start reading this weekend as well. Anybody remember what chapter A&P 1 left off with?

Come on everybody, let's make the next 6 weeks great, with lots of A's!!!

:monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance:

SEEMIK, did I read somewhere on this thread that you took Micro thru ccconline? If so, could you tell me a bit about it.

Thanks.

Sheri Ann

yes, I am actually going to finish Aug, 10 .I like it a lot , their is plenty of time for the tests , their is a lot of work involved but , it is not work that is not doable , I think the major difference is cost but, I will continue to take my sciences , I(I have A&p 2 and chem left ) through ccc versus edukan. For these last 8 weeks i was takin eng.comp2 psych, ethics, and micro , and willbe able to maintain a's and maybe 1 B (hopefully, which is not bad for summer.

as far as the class structure , their are each unit has 1 discussion ,2 or 3 chapter quiz , 1 lab quiz and assignment , and throughout the class you have 1 group project .

Sciences are my weak spot - which really stinks for me, wanting to be an RN! How do you work on a group project? In chat?? Is the testing & quizzes online, as Edukan does theirs? I couldn't find alot of info on their site related to the above. Thank-you for answering.

yes the testing and quizing is online, the group project is worked on by however your group decides, like by chat, discussion, email .feel free to ask any other questions , but I do liek ccc over edukan over sciences like isaid it is more pricey but it is worth it

Thanks for the support ladies! After I started reading all of that persons posts and responses to other posts it makes me mad that she gets credit for her responses. And by the way, I didn't think there were any big words in either one of our posts except the generic names of drugs, which you might as well get used to if you want to be a nurse. The only other "big word" is bronchodilator, and everybody should know what that means by this point in the class! Wouldn't want anybody to have to look up a word now, would we! Do you know how many times I look up words when I'm doing my nursing work????

Oh well. I just took the unit 5 test and again thought I only maybe missed 1 and instead I got a 40/50. I don't understand it and since I haven't complained to him yet this semester and asked him to double check a test I think I'll do that! You'd think he would get tired of everybody saying that and let us see the answers!

Sheri Ann - you're not going to bail on Micro with me are you???? :nono: I'm signed up for session 2 of it. What are you doing? I had emailed Angela who's in our AP class because she took it with Simmons. She said she got an 89 in it and barely studied and if she'd spent more time on it could easily have gotten an A. Apparantly he puts questions on his outlines and those questions show up again on the test so that helps. Who knows! I"m just thankful that's my last class left!

Goodluck this week everybody! Go post some good long answers with big words on those discussion threads! :typing :roll

I WANT to take it with Simmons, but I can't do the lab portion locally & I'm sure not flying to Kansas! That's the dilemma I am in. I don't think we even need a lab portion for Excelsior, that's what makes me mad. But I guess you can't take it through Edukan without the lab part. ccconline is so expensive! But it's the last class I need, also. I asked my dh if he'd fly to KS with me & he looked at me like I was smoking crack, lol. So that isn't going to happen, lol!!

Yeah, getting to Kansas is the downside. I'm only a 5-6 hour drive so I can make it there and back in the same day ( a long day, but still...)

If you don't need the lab, check out BYU http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/description.cfm?subject=77&course=MMBIO221General%2520Microbiology

Theirs is only $369 and is 3 hours with NO lab. I think I've seen some other people on Allnurses take classes through them. It's a well-known school, so it shouldn't be a problem. My only thought is if you ever decide to go somewhere besides Excelsior to do your BSN or don't like Excelsior for your RN, you will need Micro with lab. If I were you and I didn't need the lab though, I'd probably go with a class that didn't have it too!

What's weird about the BYU class is that they're using the 5th edition (1994) of the book Simmons uses - but the newest one is the 9th. Wonder why they use such an old book? The good thing is that it's only $53 new!

Has anyone taken Microbiology through edukan? ; if so, please share your experience. I'm trying to decide if I should take it through Edukan or CCConline? Please help!!!!

yippee! i had emailed simmons about the unit 5 test and here is his response:

thanks for your concern. i checked through your exam and found a

miss-key. i added 2 points to your exam grade which should now read

42/50.

how exciting! maybe now i'll e-mail him every time!

Lana,

Oh boy, looks like that crazy girl in the class who didn't like your "big words" wrote a nice ear-ful back to you!!! She just wants to let you know that she'll "do FINE" by herself. LOL, looks like we stirred up some trouble by using big words. She said up above in the other wise post she made that she just wanted to know if you were a nurse. So why didn't she ask that to begin w/ ??? Too much. Mel

Hee hee! I saw that. So maybe I shouldn't have made 2 posts about it, but it just kind of ticked me off and she gets away with some pretty lame posts and never makes constructive comments. Guess I'll have to see what kind of big words I can come up with for the next one. I think I'll just start using all techical jargon just for the heck of it! I hate it when I start getting like this!

I took the unit test yesterday, on the respiratory system. This was one of the test that I went into having alot of confidence. I had read the chapter twice, did great on the review questions (1 wrong) and thought I would get an A. I got a 64!!!! I'm so mad at myself. I'm thinking of asking him to regrade it, lol. Last time it didn't do any good tho, he said it was right. How did everyone else do?

Sheri Ann

Hey Sheri Ann,

I did horrible. I made a 56. lowest grade yet.. I couldnt believe it.. I think it was the hardest test so far though.. Its tough material too, though!
