Edison College

Hey there, anyone here go to Edison in Ft. Myers or graduated from there nursing program? I am looking to apply for Fall 09! Thanks, Michelle

The 94 points was to get into the nursing program. You get more points for having all your general ed classes completed and such and points for GPA and all that. They told us at that time which was almost 2 yrs ago anyone with more than 70 points would get in on the first try. I'm not sure if it's still that way. They also back then didn't require the ACT either but now they do and that effects your points now too.

they are acutally dropping the ACT requirement and they are now requiring the HESI instead. This past June was the last app that would be accepted with the ACT, from now on it is the HESI

OK I heard about that. I have a friend that took the test. Is it like the ACT? My friend told me it was kinda like state board. Eather way i just have to pray and study and believe that I will pass it.

Just found out today!! I made the evening program!!! Yippee skippy!!!

AWESOME! congrats. We will see you Aug. 12th for orientation. Our class is preparing an informational orientation and we will be there to have a question/answer with food.

That is very exciting. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh my goodness! Thanks for the offer! I will most certainly take you up on it!!!! Snacks are good, beverages, better :-) Gotta go now to put Aug. 12 on my calendar!

Congrats at getting in...I was accepted to the fall evening program as well. So I guess I need 8/12 on my calander free as well! :)

Well, looking forward to meeting you! We will have to have a secret Allnurses handshake when we figure out who we are!

Congrats! We should have a lot of fun in addition to the hard work!! It will be great!

A couple of pointers -

1. Buy your books online.

2. If you have any other classes you have to take that aren't nursing take them this semester. (only semester with out clinicals, each semester gets tougher)

3. Go to financial aid and apply for a nursing scholarship, they are still accepting them and they have a good bit.

If you have any questions about the classes or schedules let me know, they stay pretty much the same each year. Don't go by the ones posted online because they are not always accurate.

I am so excited for you guys, it is a great program and it is a close group, its like a second family.

Thanks Kitty and Fl Mom. I really hope that I enjoy this program. Do you guys have any ideas what type of nurses you want to be?

Those are some great tips. I really should look online to buy my books. I know some of them can get very expensive and I generally keep all my school books. Is there a way to get a list of the books before the start of the semester?

I still need to take Human Growth and Development - DEP 2004. I was thinking of taking that in the first Spring Semester. Do you think that semester is pretty busy?

I will check into the scholarships. My job will pay for 6 credits a semester but something for books will help. :) I also think I need to pay all the additional nursing fees.

Are you guys working while going to school? I have a full time job so I am hoping that I will be able to balance the 2 things at once along with other things in life. If something does come up with work - i.e. If have a conference, are the teachers understanding if I make up the work?

Thanks for the help!

You guys seem very friendly, too bad I am going to Collier campus. LPN to RN bridge program. I will meet people soon enough first day 8/26.

"I still need to take Human Growth and Development - DEP 2004. I was thinking of taking that in the first Spring Semester. Do you think that semester is pretty busy?"

-All the semesters are going to be pretty busy, but better to get all non-nursing classess out of the way as soon as you can because it will seem overwhelming towards the end.

"I will check into the scholarships. My job will pay for 6 credits a semester but something for books will help. :) I also think I need to pay all the additional nursing fees."

-The scholarship office is more than willing to help the nursing students! I applied and a few months later was awarded $. The application is about ten questions- no sweat! Also, it doesn't hurt to fill-out a FASFA, (In-fact I think you might have to have one filled-out to apply for a scholarship)

-The best thing about the evening program is just that! We all work, have kids, lots of stuff going on! But the proff. are always willing to work with you.

Hope this helps!

See you at the orientation! :D

Ditto all4peds22

I am not sure what type of nurse I want to be. I think I will decide after this semester. We have our Peds and Ob rotation. Right now I am leaning towards ER, I think it will be between Peds and ER, I know I definitely don't want Med Surg, have had enough of that for now.

I am going to go back for my masters depending on where we move to.
