Hey there, anyone here go to Edison in Ft. Myers or graduated from there nursing program? I am looking to apply for Fall 09! Thanks, Michelle

I graduate from Edison college in dec 06 great program, i actually attended classes at Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, and Naples campuses, would recommend any of the campuses for the nursing program, good luck!!

Just out of curiosity, why did u attend all the different campuses?

FL-MOM...The program starts Summer B, but I have no clue when they will let us know. The applications are due May 15th so I won't now anything until after the deadline and it will probably be closer to when the program starts...we shall see. I will keep you posted.

Henne... I took the ACT but it looks like anyone applying after 6/30/08 will have to take the HESI and get a 74 or better.

Hi, I am a LPN in Naples for 13 years. Worked on pre-req's for several years. Got my acceptance letter for Edison in Naples a couple of weeks ago. Very excited and happy to be starting a new journy in my career.

I'm a current student, and will be going into my final semester in August. Have the summer off right now and I NEEDED THE BREAK!!

Good luck! If you have any questions feel free.

I'd like to know your overall satisfaction of the program, also how the professors got along with the students, etc. I'd just like to know the pros & cons of the school. Thanks

I have had nothing but great experiences with the evening prof. It is a great program. They are willing to meet with you whenever you need. I don't have much info on the day progam professors. The day and evening are on different schedules and for the most part have different professors. The day program has summers off and we go straight thru. 18mos. It is a quicxker program than the day but right now I wish I had a little break!

So far I have heard for the evening class that just graduated 14/14 have passed the NCLEX. From semester to semeter we have about 2 or 3 that don't pass to the next semester or have problems at home and they have to take time off and pick it back up next year. The classes on the most part (for evening) are Mon and Wed. 5:30 -9:30pm. We don't start clinicals until the second semester and you can usually choose from Cape Coral, Southwest and Healthpark. You can also choose from Sat. or Sun. they usually start at 6am. As the program progresses you have more clinicals. For example in the fall we will have a Peds rotation twice a week. (Sat. and Sun.) for half the semester and then an OB rotation for the other half. It is set up that you will not have school more than 3 days per week. Either 2 lectures and 1 clinical or 1 lecture and 2 clinicals. The evening program is really family oriented.

I hope this info helps.

Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the program, the school and the professors. Every professor I've had, has been very helpful. If you need anything they are more than willing to help. There have been a few clashes between professors and students but it's been very rare and they were usually personality clashes, and quite frankly in my eyes the student's fault. Now we do have some new professors coming in that I don't know because I haven't had them, they mainly teach the earlier classes that I've already been in. I'm fortunate that I'm going into my final semester with a professor that I already know and adore, but I'm also getting one I've never met before. So we'll see how that goes.

For clinical instructors, as long as you do what you are supposed to, don't waste time and are confident you will have no problems. They like you to seek out as many new opportunities as you can to make your experience as fulfilling as possible. If you need help with anything they are right there to help you.

The program itself is excellent, and far better than FGCUs program which has struggled off and on to keep itself together.

If memory serves me correctly I believe the pass rate is in the upper 90% for the program and the pass rate for the NCLEX is something like 94 or 95% It was rated in the top 40 for the nation as far as nursing programs go.

It's a tough program, but I'd expect that with any nursing program. You're trying to cram as much information as you can into a 2 year degree which still leaves a lot of room for learning once you get out on the job.

The admin staff is also extremely helpful if you have any questions or problems they are more than willing to help the best they can.

My only con with the program, and I'm sure this is the case with most schools, is at times, it seems unorganized. We don't get our clinical assignments, as far as what hospital we are assigned to and to which clinical group until very late, usually after the semester registration has already begun which is kind of a pain when you're trying to plan child care and such.

Oh and a tip....keep all your books until you are fully done with the program because a lot of times you will need the same ones for a different class. And the one's you don't need you may need as reference material.

Oh and by the way.... I'm on the day program.

i have just taken the act today and only got through like half of each section. i am such a slow test taker. i have no idea how this will affect my score. i am applying to the evening fall 08 program also. feel free to chat with me.

can anyone tell me what there points were when applying for the nursing program? i just want to compare to see what i am competing with. i haven't got my act scores back yet but i'm just curious what points anyone received that either got in or was rejected.

thanks! :D
