How true! I'm on call (misnomer - I'll be in the hospital the entire 12 hours) for the whole three day weekend.

As the Jewish kid, I have worked or been on-call every Christmas eve and/or day since nursing school, 1973. Now I am umemployed, and wish I could work on Christmas. Never minded it, really. Keep in mind, that my own family was off from work and school. As a child, we always had a big family dinner because everyone was off.
Patients and families were always happy to see the 'regular' staff, and not just the part-timers or floaters.

I don't work in ED, but I think that song will work for anyone in nursing. I love it!
