I spoke with an admission counselor who updated my evaluation summary and the only course needed for general education is information literacy. Can I fulfill the requirement without going through EC like a CLEP course? I don't know what to do? The IL course is expensive for a 1 credit P/F course. Any advice?
Thanks:)

From all info I know you have to do this thru EC. And it is not a difficult course at all. Most people have completed it in an afternoon. It is a required course for EC Distance learning students.

Someone else can chime in with the name but there is an online school with this exact class for far less. Can't remember off the top of my head but wanted to warn you before you paid for it.

I recently enrolled at EC and have been speaking with an advisor. She stated that Excelsior DOES accept Penn Foster's Information Literacy. SOO that will definitely be the route I take because it is cheaper than Excelsior's course.

The problem is not with EC's acceptance of the Penn Foster course, but that Penn Foster will no longer allow students to only take a one-credit course -- I believe you have to sign up for three credits, which will end up being a waste of time for most people, and nearly as expensive as just taking the one-credit course through EC.

I called Penn Foster today and yes, you can take just 1 credit course, Information Literacy, ENG103. The total cost is $115.95, this include the course, transcript, and shipping fee. You take the course online. I am going to call and pay for it on Friday.

I called Penn Foster a few months ago and they said you could not take just 1 credit...it had to be at least 3
Wow you get all that for $115.95! That's great! I need to call Penn Foster ASAP!
Thank you all for your feedback. :)

penn foster must have changed their policy again. i called a few months ago and they would not let me take info lit only, but i called a few days ago and the let me take just the one credit class. it was $115 but several days later i am still waiting for the offical transcripts to be sent to excelsior.
$115 from thousands of EC students is better than $0 because of an arbitrary guideline.
Would I have to pay an additional $75 to EC to include this course from Penn Foster?
