Duquesne University ABSN 2022

Hi all!

I know it's still early for this program (deadline in May), but I was recently accepted and wanted to start a discussion forum! I really wanted to be in Pittsburgh and like Duquesne's program, which is why I applied.

Accepted/prospective students please feel free to respond, as well as current students - I'd love to hear what you think about the program!

First semester I didn’t need a car because you only have one clinical and you should be good if someone can offer you a ride. Spring and Summer is when it gets tricky because you have clinical 3x a week and can get assigned at a hospital a 30 minute drive from campus. I was able to get by asking for a ride from classmates in my clinical, but it is getting difficult so I am shipping my car in from CA in a couple weeks. But I also made that decision because I accepted a job offer from a hospital here after graduation so I plan on staying in Pittsburgh for another year! As for rent, apartments around Duquesne range around 1000-1300.

Hi Everyone!

I just applied (a little late to the party), but I'm anxiously awaiting the decision! I was wondering if anyone minded sharing there stats? My undergrad GPA got tanked bc of the first two years so I am a little nervous! And also wanted to say that I go to Pitt right now which is right next door so if anyone has any questions about Pittsburgh, let me know!

Thanks gn09duq for the advice! Do students have the option of choosing their hospitals or is it selected at random? Do you find the program to be organized? Thanks!

Hello! Here are my stats:

A&P I: B+

A&P II: Currently taking 

Biology or Chem: A

Human Growth and Develop.: A

Microbiology: A

Nutrition: Currently taking

Statistics: A

Within my first two years, I had a decent GPA but now it's pretty good (especially after putting effort to the prereqs). I would say as long you've met the requirements, you should be fine. Also, thankfully, Duquesne does get back quickly to notify about admission. Hope you get in!

I got accepted to Duquesne about a month ago. I'm pretty excited to be back in Pittsburgh honestly. I only have to take 2 pre-reqs as nursing wasn't my initial career choice but I found something I am going for beyond becoming an RN. I'm really excited to meet everyone. I've decided to do the 16 month track. 

Has anyone done their clearances yet? All the stuff we gotta do by July 15th makes my head spin.

oh my gosh I completely agree! it’s so much! I don't even know where to start. I was even having issues putting in the code to purchase the clearances.

Added on top of that, I couldn't find any place that did CPR certification for free since my 2 years will be up in September so I had to pay $65 for it ?
