Duquesne University ABSN 2022

Published

Hi all!

I know it's still early for this program (deadline in May), but I was recently accepted and wanted to start a discussion forum! I really wanted to be in Pittsburgh and like Duquesne's program, which is why I applied.

Accepted/prospective students please feel free to respond, as well as current students - I'd love to hear what you think about the program!

Hi! I just found out about this school I'm from California so I don't know too many out of state schools. But after reading through some of the posts, this seems to be a pretty good school and I'm going to apply for it! May I ask those who are admitted into the ABSN program how long did it take to hear the admission result after you submitted the application? Thanks in advance!!

Hey, I'm from California too! I heard back in about a month. I submitted some extra documents so that may be why mine took longer. Their admissions team is very responsive so definitely reach out to them with any questions!

Hi, just another question, I'm not born in the U.S., so English is not my first language(immigrated here when I was 11), but I never need to take any foreign language exam like GRE or TOEFL, but on the prerequisite form, there are only options of English is my first language or take the TOEFL, is anyone in the same situation as me?

@zxcvb I'm an immigrant too, moved here at 22. I got my undergrad in Russia and had to take the TOEFL because of that. The rule of a thumb is that if your first bachelor's was in English, you don't need to take the TOEFL/IELTS, but you should check with admissions.

Is anyone still working on prerequisites? I am doing two through Portage and after being accepted I lost a bit of motivation (don't worry - I plan on getting it back)! If anyone wants to make a group or something for support I'd be all for it.

Good luck to everyone applying and congrats to everyone who got in! I am very excited.

Yeah, I'm currently working on A&P II and Nutrition. A&P II is such an intense class haha.

Ah yes! That's one of the ones I have left. I took a break (mistake) and I'm finding it so hard to jump back into it LOL. Going to try to finish Micro first and then tackle A&P II. Nutrition was surprisingly annoying for me but not hard. You'll do great!

Thanks. Same to you as well!!

Hello! Recently got accepted! Congrats to all and good luck to those applying!

I just got accepted into the program as well! I'm from California and have never really been out of state. Super nervous about it. Does anyone have information about the city and the school that would like to share? Cost of living, the safety of the city, how is the school? Thank you so muchh!

@zxcvb Hey, I'm moving from CA as well! Never been to Pittsburgh and plan to go visit for a weekend to check if out and get familiar with some neighborhoods. I've come across some articles and reddit threads on places to live/safe areas, but so far have no clear picture. I'll keep you posted! Where in CA are you?

Thank you!! I will also do some more research on my end as well but I probably won't be able to visit any time soon. I'm from San Francisco but I'm finishing up my undergrad in San Diego currently. what about you?

Hey y’all sooo it’s looking like I’m most likely going to accept my offer here ?. I’m from CA too and have never been to Pennsylvania or let alone that far out East .. kinda nervous about it but I was wondering how you guys were going about finding a place to live?
