Duquesne University ABSN 2022

Published

Hi all!

I know it's still early for this program (deadline in May), but I was recently accepted and wanted to start a discussion forum! I really wanted to be in Pittsburgh and like Duquesne's program, which is why I applied.

Accepted/prospective students please feel free to respond, as well as current students - I'd love to hear what you think about the program!

Hey everyone! Another question. How long did Identogo take to send your fingerprint results/info? I had my fingerprinting appointment a month ago (in PA) and the status still says 'processing.' I'm a bit worried this is going to become a pain in my butt if it isn't processed soon, ugh

They mail you the results. I would call IndentoGo and see what they say.

I know, and I did, but of course they send you through like 5 different “press here for XYZ” channels and couldn’t figure out how to reach a human!

I'm pretty clueless but I think I got my results within 2 weeks because I was still packing my stuff to move from Erie to Pittsburgh when I did my fingerprinting. Sometimes the mail is super slow depending on where you put your address. I feel like USPS still doesn't have a lot of people working for them since COVID.

Hi everyone! What are your plans for transportation during the ABSN program? I am an out of state student from CA. Originally, I was thinking of buying a used car in PA but it turns out the DMV does not accept out of state licenses for car registrations. Driving my current across the country is not an option.

I am worried about transportation when it comes to clinicals. Since I am planning to live on campus, I hope I can be assigned clinicals near campus. I don't know what to do if I am assigned somewhere far.

I am also living near campus and I plan on buying an annual bus pass that gives you unlimited rides. I talked to my success coach and the ABSN recruiter and they said that the clinical assignments should all be near a bus route or we can always carpool with people. I'm gonna try to bus first.

Same! Pittsburgh has a pretty great bus system and with some practice/timing I think the bus will be fine.

There's an app I like to use called Moovit that can give you a good estimate of when the bus would be at a certain spot. I don't remember if the buses start at the time we have to be there...I saw that Tuesdays are clinical days this semester and they're from 6:30AM to 2:30PM or somethin like that.

It's a relief to know they have a great bus system haha. I'm not gonna be driving a car in Pittsburgh. I plan on walking/biking to campus but I definitely hope to have a great experience using the bus to get to the clinical sites.

my clinicals are Thursday! and I have a car so if anyone ever needs/wants a ride you’re more than welcome to hop in(:

I’m sure once we all get our clinical sites we’ll be figuring out how best to get there — don’t worry I’m sure we’ll all figure it out! ?

I guess we'll have to buddy up during orientation so see who has what day. Mine are on Tuesdays. I have that lab on Thursday.

I wonder if they'll assign them at orientation

Pittsburgh has one of the best. Honestly, I love their bus system compared to my own city's bus system. Pittsburgh has way more buses than my city in Florida ??

Mine is also on Tuesdays.

Thank goodness it's a good system cause the bus system where I live is really something else?
