Duquesne University ABSN 2022

Published

Hi all!

I know it's still early for this program (deadline in May), but I was recently accepted and wanted to start a discussion forum! I really wanted to be in Pittsburgh and like Duquesne's program, which is why I applied.

Accepted/prospective students please feel free to respond, as well as current students - I'd love to hear what you think about the program!

Has anyone already purchased/already have an iPad? Any recommendations? I'm considering the regular iPad vs the iPad Air and not sure if the Air is worth it!

I have the regular ipad. It works fine (no lagging or crashing on most apps). I primarily use it for school notes, which are backed up on a cloud. The regular iPad is cheaper than the iPad Air. It all comes down to what you will be using it for and preferences.

I have the iPad Air. got it when I went to Chatham University. Educational discount really helps. I don't know if the regular iPad will fit in our scrub pockets. I talked to the recruiter and she said we put our iPad in our scrub top if we aren't taking notes or doing skills. the iPad Air will fit.

The regular iPad is actually a bit smaller than the iPad Air I think! Unless you mean the mini?

no I mean the iPad Air 2. I sent the dimensions to the recruiter and she said it'll fit. I would send the dimensions to one of the nursing recruiters at Duquesne to make sure the iPad fits. I know they said no to the iPad Pro

Oh yeah if you read the Technical Requirements the only one they don’t allow is the iPad Pro!

I wonder if they will make me buy a newer laptop. I have the 2015 macbook air ? I might take it to computer services when I'm in town next month to see if they can speed it up. Apple will just have me recycle it ?

The Macbook specifications are so annoying, I got mine right before they switched to the M1 chip (like Sept. 2020) so they don’t even recommend mine anymore ?

right? I actually called the computer store asking if we absolutely need the newest laptop and they said to check with the nursing department (screw that tbh). I was able to get an Apple watch for less money from Ebay because we need a watch. might as well be able to play my tunes. I'm 100% team Apple because Microsoft laptops have screwed me over in undergrad. ?

Yes! The RegisteredNurseRN is all on Youtube. This is also her website:  https://www.registerednursern.com/

Hi everyone, I'm currently in the 12-month program and graduating in a couple weeks. I wanted to see if I could give away my scrubs to anyone (for free)-- I have 3 scrub tops (size M) and 1 pair of women's pants (unworn, size M) if anyone wants them, all clean and in fine condition. If there's a facebook group or something for the cohort it would be great if someone would be willing to add me or just post on my behalf to see if anyone there might want them too! I'm also happy to answer any questions I can about the program or Pittsburgh!

We can definitely share it on our discord?
