Duke 2014 Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to start a thread for the Duke University Hospital residency program.

I'm also looking for some advice as well. I'm not 100% sure of the application process, (maybe I'm thinking about other program I've applied to) but I remember being able select our 1st and 2nd choice. I'm pretty sure if this is the case that I selected pediatrics.

Well I just received an email form Duke to interview for the Clinical Transport Team. I'm thrilled to have gotten an interview, but does this mean my application was never forwarded to my choices?

Is anyone else in the same boat?

snguffey what unit was that on that you interviewed? And to people who have traveled to duke for their interviews, they didn't pay your travel expenses right? I mean I'm assuming they don't lol like I want them more than they want me clearly.

I interviewed for the surgical icu. And no they didn't pay. If they give you a position they will pay for moving expenses.

I have an interview tomorrow on the pediatrics medsurg/hematology unit. I was contacted a week ago about it

I got the job!! I'll be in the CT surgical ICU (7W). Where is everyone going to be living?? I'm starting August 25 and will probably go down to NC to look for apartments in late June or early July

Good luck km 1991! I have friends that work on that unit and they are amazing!!! DjgRN congrats! I have a classmate/friend that just accepted a new grad job on CTICU! She starts in June.

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews! If anyone is starting in August let me know! It would be nice to meet someone in the area once I move there

I'm interviewing next week in the PICU! So nervous, so excited. For all of those who had their interviews already, did you just wear scrubs the whole time or did you change into business attire after the shadow? Do you have any advice on how to prepare for the interview? Like what questions to prepare for, etc... Thanks y'all!!!

kelle954: I wore nice scrubs for both the interview and the shadow, there wasn't any time in between the two! I prepared by looking at the hospital's mission statement and values and thinking of how to articulate how I fit into them. Also definitely be able to talk about why you are interested in this job and Duke in particular!

I think the interview went well but the manager's last interview is on the 19th so I won't know anything until after that :/ Kelle954- when I got an itinerary from the recruiter it said what to wear, which was scrubs the whole time.

I'm starting at the end of July! When are you moving to NC?

Hi everyone! I have an interview for the orthopedic unit next friday. Any suggestions what to expect during interview?

I got the job on 5100! A peds unit. I'll start at the end of July! Moving from Illinois gosh where am I supposed to live
