2017 Duke New Grad Program

Published

Hey! I just thought I'd make a place where people can ask questions regarding applications, interviews, and new jobs regarding Duke's Summer 2017 New grad Program. I sent my application in for Duke's New Grad Program in January, and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone heard anything different?

Good luck!

Of course!! And well that took about an hour, then they allow you to do around a 2 hour shadowing experience of the unit! Yeah I am originally from CT, and will be moving to NC by myself to work at Duke. I did it because it's one of the best hospitals in the country, it will look great on a resume, but also they have a lot of good benefits! Like loan repayment for employees, relocation payment, as well as having master programs so close by and having the opportunity for them to pay for further education as well! They pay less then hospital's in CT, but I think it's worth it for all those things!!!

Thank you so much for the quick reply! But omg that took 3 hours?! haha, im just surprised because my past ones only took about an hour. Also, I've been struggling with my choices because I ideally wanted to work In NJ/NY/PA, but I know that Duke is an amazing hospital and is also the top university for nursing right now (I want to get my masters). But I just wanted to know why you wanted Duke as opposed to other hospitals? Is it the benefits, etc?

While Duke does pay kind of low for the area, the benefits kind of make up for it. Especially the up to $25K in loan repayment over 3 years. The health insurance is VERY affordable, as well. That's why I chose it. I also came to the area from school from PA and really liked it, so I was glad I was able to get a job at Duke.

Just got my background check request today. It's all becoming real. I start in 67 days :nailbiting:

Nice! I think it will become more real for me once I pass the NCLEX lol

looks like everyone here is already hired but I wanted to ask...how long did your status say "in review" on the login? Mine was last update March 15.

Also, for everyone rejected, did you get an email or just not hear back? trying to figure out if I should reach out to HR or not

did anyone also apply to UNC?

I didn't really check my status online so I can't say. I got offered an interview with UNC but turned it down due to already accepting Duke's offer ...

If you were rejected, you'll get a form email from the recruiter. I honestly didn't watch my application status because the recruiter for my unit reached out to me via email didn't go through the system.

I did apply to UNC but withdrew my application after I accepted my position at Duke.

Hi! I start work in the Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU in August and I'm looking for a roommate. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding someone or is anyone else looking for a roommate? I am 24, originally from Charlotte, NC, and just graduated from nursing school in May!

Hey everyone sorry to be chipping in so late . I'm out of state and my dream is to go to Duke. I applied back in February (the 15th actually) and haven't heard anything:(. Then again on the 17th for another New Grad Position. I check my status frequently, and both are "open". When I called HR regarding my first application that's been 3 months, they told me as long as it's "open" I'm still considered. The anxiety yet frustration is real lol. I'm so happy to see everyone else's postings about jobs, though! Wishing you all the best !!

Hey, does anyone know how long it takes to get your license number after you have taken the NCLEX?

Usually it takes about 24-48hrs in NC

I think they said it can take up to 5 business days.
