2017 Duke New Grad Program

Published

Hey! I just thought I'd make a place where people can ask questions regarding applications, interviews, and new jobs regarding Duke's Summer 2017 New grad Program. I sent my application in for Duke's New Grad Program in January, and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone heard anything different?

Good luck!

If you don't mind me asking, what date did they say you would be starting?
Sorry for the late reply! I start September 5th, just like yoU! I think it's because it's a new unit that will me opening!

Okay! Makes sense! (:

anyone know if they are still hiring/conducting interviews? seems like everyone is already hired...

I think they're still interviewing. One of my friends got a request for an interview on a couple units like 2 or so weeks ago.

I believe they are still interviewing :)

Did anyone during you all's interview process say what the scheduling would be like? The manager for my unit never really said ...

For the job I accepted, I was just told that my start time would be between 8am and 11am, 3 12s a week, with 1 week of nights every 8 week schedule. For my other ones, they just told me it was rotating nights and days (3 12s).

Okay, thanks! I figured that they would make us work both days and nights before we could pick one or the other.

It's seems to be unit dependent, my unit had a specific amount of time we have to work before switching to all nights or all days but I have friends on other units with different time frames.

Hi! Congrats to everyone who was hired, that's incredible! I just received my face-to-face interview for the new grad residency. It's for adult surgery/bariatrics. I was told in the email that the interview is about 3 hours. I was just wondering if you guys could give me a gist of how the interview was structured? And if there were a lot of content based questions as opposed to behavior questions? I'm driving down from New Jersey and am super nervous.

I know the manager I interview with asked what questions I had first for them, then went on to ask me more behavior questions like strength, weaknesses, how you would handle an ethical problem, how you handle finding out if you were lied too, how you work in a team like setting etc. :) good luck!!!!

Thank you so much for the quick reply! But omg that took 3 hours?! haha, im just surprised because my past ones only took about an hour. Also, I've been struggling with my choices because I ideally wanted to work In NJ/NY/PA, but I know that Duke is an amazing hospital and is also the top university for nursing right now (I want to get my masters). But I just wanted to know why you wanted Duke as opposed to other hospitals? Is it the benefits, etc?
