2017 Duke New Grad Program

Published

Hey! I just thought I'd make a place where people can ask questions regarding applications, interviews, and new jobs regarding Duke's Summer 2017 New grad Program. I sent my application in for Duke's New Grad Program in January, and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone heard anything different?

Good luck!

Yayy! (: You're the first person I've met that's going to be working on that floor too! I'm excited that it's a new unit! Can't wait to meet you as well! When do you start in Sept. again?

I was also hired on 3200! Looking forward to meeting you and starting on this floor!!

I'm excited too!! I start September 5th for orientation

Hey, I was just reading the posts and saw that there are a couple of you starting on 2200/3200 in Sept.! That is my start date as well! I interviewed for a couple of positions at the same time but I told them I was willing to wait until Sept. to start and that is the department that came back with the offer! It has been good to have the summer off but I am sooo ready to get started!! Look forward to meeting you all!!

Yes!! Indeed! It's been tough watching my colleagues start and having to wait until September lol - can't wait to meet you all too! I wonder what type of patient population we will mostly have?

I was so confused after interviewing for 3 positions, and shadowing each that I couldn't remember anything! It seems like the manager mentioned something about a lot of trauma but he could have been talking about something else. I too am excited to be part of a new floor. I know the manager was excited to be choosing his team.

Are you new to the area? Go to school here?

My husband is originally from Raleigh but we had moved away. We were living is south Fl and that's where I graduated.

Okay, gotcha! Yea when I shadowed there were a lot of GSW patients there and some cardiac patients so it sounds like there will be a nice variety. Yes! I'm from NC, went to UNC for my first degree.. then went back for nursing at a school in VA. So I'm a little familiar with the area but things have blossomed so much since I was here in 2013 lol...Glad to be back!!

Hi! I was just offered a position at Duke (and also late to the party) but I'll be relocating from New England too! I'm starting in October and am also looking for a roommate - let me know!

Hi everyone (I know I'm late to the party) but I was just offered a position at Duke starting in October. Just wondering how you guys found roommates, what neighborhoods are good to live in (I'm from New England) and if anyone needs a roommate? Any help is appreciated

Can anyone tell me what you have to do for the pre-employment physical test? Thanks.

I had heard that it's to see if you have good body mechanics and things of that nature.. for example, someone told me that you have to pick up different weighted sandbags during one part of the test... so I'm assuming that it's just to be sure that you are physically capable for performing general nursing duties (?)

Has anyone heard of how difficult it will be to get good/reasonable parking?
