Duke New Grad Nurse Residency Summer 2018

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hey everyone! I was just hired as a new grad into the new grad nurse residency program at Duke University Hospital. I live about 8 hours away and I'm hoping to connect with others who will also be starting the program in July! I'm also looking for recommendations on places to live in the Duke/Raleigh area!

I just received an offer for the ED at Duke Regional to begin this July! I have some NCLEX questions for those of you who are moving from out of state and beginning as a new grad this July. When are you guys planning to move? Are you testing in NC or? I am so excited and look forward to getting in contact with those of you who will be beginning there in July too.

Hey loleaux. I am moving to NC the beginning of July, and testing in CO before moving out there :)

Hey EMTRN14. Would you like to exchange email addresses? I have some questions about nclex and compact license stuff, the relocation assistance options, etc. I would love to also just chat about the exciting journey we are about to begin! Let me know or just email me at [email protected]. Hope to talk to you soon!

I got a job offer! Super excited to start. Coming from florida

Congrats tina102! Are those of you who are moving from out of state sitting for NCLEX in your state or in NC? I'm moving from CA (which is not a compact state), and trying to figure out where I am going to test. I start 7/23 and won't have enough time to test in CA and apply to have my license endorsed by NC. Not sure what to do about NCLEX just yet. Any advice? Thanks!

I'm testing in fl since its a compact state. Call NC board of Nursing and ask them what will be the best move for you.

Do any of you know what the orientation schedule and first few weeks will be like? Just to get an idea of what life events I am going to be missing.

Hi @ktruelove,

Looking at the orientation information, it says orientation is Monday-Friday and that most orientation days will end between 1600 and 1700 (it doesn't specify any other start dates other than the one on Monday). I think we also go up to whichever floor we will work on on Friday. Where will you be working?! :)

Hello everyone! I just applied for their Surgical/Trauma ICU position. I was wondering when everyone heard back and if there are any supplementals to the application I should watch for. Congrats to all who have already accepted a job!

@songc2 thanks! I will be in the PCICU, what about you?!

I'm just anxious to get schedules lol

Anyone starting August 6th?

Anyone looked into **affordable** housing near the hospital?
