Hey everyone! I was just hired as a new grad into the new grad nurse residency program at Duke University Hospital. I live about 8 hours away and I'm hoping to connect with others who will also be starting the program in July! I'm also looking for recommendations on places to live in the Duke/Raleigh area!
I just searched new grad and applied for a few jobs that popped up. A couple of them came back that they were wanting application that had graduated sooner, but a few of them were hits for me.

Thank you
Thank you! I accepted the CTICU position. It was $3 less an hour, but I loved shadowing on the unit and the idea of having one unit where I can really get to know my coworkers.I have heard good things about Duke Regional - I would definitely go ahead and apply there if I were you! I have done a fair amount of research and have some places bookmarked on my computer, but I'm out of town and only have my phone here! I'm hoping a few people who live in the area already will get in here to give those of us coming from other states some suggestions/tips!
Hi, I will be interviewing for the surgical trauma ICU and CTICU in 2 weeks! Is there any advice you could give me regarding the interview/ types of questions asked and structure? Also what did you think about the unit? I'm really looking forward to it, but am also super nervous!

Congrats on your interviews. For mine I came in and shadowed for a couple of hours, then sat down with a couple of the clinical leads. I absolutely loved the unit and all of the nurses I met! The sit down part of the interview was super informal and mostly just conversational. I wouldn't stress it at all. In my opinion when they brought me I they knew they wanted to hire me but were giving me a chance to screw it up. So just go in, be yourself and confident, and I think you'll be golden!

Thanks so much for your advice! Have you started on the unit yet?
