  1. I just wore my own scrubs. As long as they look professional you will be fine. I did wear scrubs for both parts, and I think they prefer it that way so that there's no time taken up with a wardrobe change. Keep us updated on how everything goes!
  2. Hey Amanda, For me, I shadowed two hours and then sat down with a couple of clinical leads for about 30 minutes. The entire thing was very laid back, and I felt very welcome through the entire process. I think the best thing to do when shadowing is to ask questions and express your excitement about the opportunity, but also make sure your personality and all shines through so they know you'll be a good fit with the staff. My interview with the clinical leads was much easier than the phone interview before. I personally didn't receive any behavior based interview questions in person. Good luck!
  3. Congrats! Are you from the area? I've had a decent amount of luck and think I've finally settled in on a place but still have to see it in person to know for sure. The apartment list app is awesome, and I also joined a couple Facebook groups where people list townhomes, houses, and apartments for rent that I can link if you would like.
  4. I'm possibly looking for a roommate also, planning to move up at end of April/early May. If you want to chat my email is [email protected]
  5. My starting pay is $23.85. $5.50 differential for nights, $9 differential on weekends. $14.50 for weekend nights which I plan to take advantage of.
  6. Hey! I don't start until July, so I can't help there :) let us know what you decide!
  7. Unfortunately not. I graduate in May and start in July! Let us know how your interview goes.
  8. Congrats on your interviews. For mine I came in and shadowed for a couple of hours, then sat down with a couple of the clinical leads. I absolutely loved the unit and all of the nurses I met! The sit down part of the interview was super informal and mostly just conversational. I wouldn't stress it at all. In my opinion when they brought me I they knew they wanted to hire me but were giving me a chance to screw it up. So just go in, be yourself and confident, and I think you'll be golden!
  9. I just searched new grad and applied for a few jobs that popped up. A couple of them came back that they were wanting application that had graduated sooner, but a few of them were hits for me. Jobs Search | DukeNursing.org
  10. Congrats on your job! Are you from the Raleigh-Durham area originally? I've seen rumors of them going to that on previous forums for a few years now. I would contact someone up there just to be sure so you don't waste any money!
  11. Thank you! I accepted the CTICU position. It was $3 less an hour, but I loved shadowing on the unit and the idea of having one unit where I can really get to know my coworkers. I have heard good things about Duke Regional - I would definitely go ahead and apply there if I were you! I have done a fair amount of research and have some places bookmarked on my computer, but I'm out of town and only have my phone here! I'm hoping a few people who live in the area already will get in here to give those of us coming from other states some suggestions/tips!
  12. Hey EMTRN! I applied on December 3rd for a couple positions. I had a phone interview the following week, had another phone interview on the 18th for the critical care float pool and interviewed/shadowed in person on the 20th for the CTICU. I received offers for both positions that same day, so it was pretty quick!
